Can Anyone put the new 2257 laws in Plain english?

Hi well ive read em 5 times now all the way thru and each time got something different out of it can anyone put them in plain english terms.

Also Exactly when will these new law revisions take affect.

I am concerned as most should be but seems like alot just dont care I asked some spons the deal and they all seem lost and 4 didnt know anything about it.

So maybe we can get this all in the open so those who do care can take the measures needed to cover their ass.

And for those that dont care Have Fun on the unemployment line :-)

Ok Greenie i checked that thread out last night for 2 hrs :-)

Still have alot of questions LOL

Only reason I ask is I like to be 100% legit. And if i use spons hosted sites and tgp galleries Im trying to get the particulars on what i will need from them ( I run a thumb tgp ) Because if this law takes effect in 30-60 days thats not much time to get all the paperwork sorted out and some spons are slow as two turtles fucking on a hot summer day when it comes to something needing done.

Typical laws LOL hard to understand but easy to end up on the giving end of a Rusty Trombone.

On a side note:

You got to take a pic of you in your rusty trombone shirt one of these days and post it for shits and giggles.

I laugh when people say what the hell is a rusty trombone.

Kids are great, Appu. You can teach them to hate the things you hate and they practically raise themselves now-a-days, you know, with the internet and all

These are proposed changes, that depending on who you talk to may or may not be actually in effect.

They are accepting comments on the opinions of the taxpayers for 90 days (think it ends in Sept sometime, so don't delay, do it today).

For anyone seriously considering filing a comment on the proposed changes, go here - to submit your comments.

I would suggest bringing up the safety of the models as a problem with the proposed changes as it will subject all models to having their personal information made available to anyone willing to buy $5 worth of content.

I would suggest being nice about it, and intelligent, if you want them to read it . . . and yes, they do pay attention

It does depend on who you ask. Ask any attorney or anybody who knows what they are talking about and they will tell you these REGULATIONS are as good as implemented. The Justice Department just has to go through the motions first.

Ask any other jackass on the board and they start babbling about the law being passed by Congress and other bullshit. This is not a law, this is a regulation. Congress already passed the law (2257) back 10+ years ago. They gave the Justice Department the right to promulgate regulations which is what the Justice Department is doing.

Baddog, thanks for that excellent link. Unfortunately you failed to read it yourself. It clearly says the comments are due August 24th. I have no clue where you got September or 90 days.

Most models don't have a clue what happens to their information after they do the photo shoot. They might care, a little, but most are just in it to make a buck and don't think about the long term ramifications (like their future boss finding the photos online). More importantly, the Justice Department doesn't care about the privacy aspects (have you seen the Patriot Act which the Justice Department trumpeted?). What people need to address is the burden and cost these changes will make on their business and how the secondary producer definitions in the regulations are illegal expanions of the law.
