What Do You Think About All Of Us Spicing Up The Recip Links?

Yes, this really does belong in Link Lists & Getting Listed, but it's my board, so

I started to think about the text we all use for recip links, whether it's to a Link List, a TGP, or a standard trade. So this morning when I was cranking out a Free Site, I came up with these off the top of my head:

Your Pass To Clit
They Have Both Kinds: Erotic and Naughty
Greenguy Spam O'Rama
Pussy Links That Make You Smile
The Teen Spanker
Links Of The Mature Erotica Kind
Amateurs That Have Nipples
These Girlfriends Are Sexy and Real
Dave Is Dangerous
It's A Festival Of Anal Sex
Alive Lesbian Amateurs
A Lesbian Network By Sunshine

For the most part, all the keywords are still in there, but I think I have spiced everything up a bit so that they are different than the 1000's of existing links using the exact same words.

I'm thinking that I may want to encourage my submitters to come up with their own text for the links back to me.

Your thoughts?

ive been doing the linkback to my main hub site diffrent then i used to lately as well as using the same text in the title tag on the link.

i used to see changes quickly and effectively.
not as much these days.
but i am just one person...so..

bottom line is i dont see how it could be worse.

The only issue I see with changing around our recips is it makes it more work for people building free sites and it isn't like we are overloaded with submits.

yeah, its definitely more work. so I figure roll it out slowly - which is how natiural linking would look anyway, to the algos. sudden changes looks arranged, exactly llike it is.

but, i changed the link for a site subbed to anal sex fest and it got rejected - so....

I'll take just about anything in my recip as long as the URL contains either cleoslinks.com or cleos-porn-links.com.

I wonder if it would be good to vary the anchor text on each submission? It would be a bit much for submitters, but different text for each submit might be a good idea.

NO recips at all!

Freesite submitters are way way down, at least those that put an effort into them. Maybe this will boost the amount of submits since they will be just a bit easier to put together, plus they can submit them to all those lists that will accept a clean freesite without making duplicates, mirrors and such.

In the beginning this may only be a few lists but could turn into a lot in time. If a lot of lists are pointing to a freesite built with a good amount of text and minimal links out, limited to 4, then maybe freesites will start showing up in the se's creating more freesite sales.

Simply put, more freesite sales would make people WANT to build more freesites and better freesites.

I remember when linklists use to list a large amount of sites while rejecting a lot every day. Who knows, maybe it could return back to that.

The worst thing that could happen is your list does no better in the engines but you at least have more listing for the surfers you do have. This keeps them on your site longer and makes them happier and a happy surfer comes back another day.

Just a thought and feel free to think it's foolish.

Nice idea, plus it adds variety. I know I ignore links and such that contain the same old thing. Adding something different would shake it up. I will definitely accept them, as well as sites with no recips. I don't think surfers care anyway.

That's interesting, and freesites without the big blob of recips do look better. I am not sure if recips have all that much value these days. I get a few clicks from people that click on the links, but that's about it.

that is a good idea.

Some kind of agreement about linking patterns might be the best compromise - giving a link from the index page of a freesite domain plus some links in some other ways, in exchange for the subbing of no recip freessites.

the absolute predictibility and artificiality of the standard freesite linking pattern has been death for SE credibility for years and years now - yet, we never change.

I have suggested stuff like this before, but we have been mired in fears and habits and no-longer-functional rules.

jesus, I am so fucking glad that people are finally beginning to start thinking like this.

Here's the numbers for link-o-rama.com as far as Traffic Sources:
36.55% Search Traffic
37.02% Referral Traffic
23.47% Direct Traffic
2.97% Campaigns (???)

Seeing as Referral Traffic refers to all the links to my site on other people's sites/pages, I have to assume a lot of those come from recip links on submitted sites, especially since I really have no mega trades set up.

There was a thread some time ago about moving the recip to the index page of a domain in question. I did like the idea, I also made some modifications to my submit page, so submitter could choose the placement of the reciprocal link. I still like the idea of placing recip on index page of submitted domain instead on submitted fs. I think it's the better solution vs no recip at all.

For August:
48.7% Search
25.1% Direct
25.5% external half of that is from my own network linking back

With that being said I am still willing to give it a go and will gladly list clean freesites and galleries.

There really is only like 4 maybe 6 lists that send proper traffic. Maybe those lists should go back to their old rules of no more than 6 recips on a page and all the small owners are willing to list those. And yes I would, right now!

Remember getting listed at LOR and then having like 20 other sites listing you. This could happen again and we might all be the better for it.

Now Greenie and "He who shall not be named"....lay down the law!
