Another 2257 thread ?...

Look I know there are a million questions about 2257 on this board. I have read so many my eyes are crossed. I know not to take legal advise from a message board.

I just need some opinions. I'm very close to starting my first free sites and this 2257 stuff has me very concerned.

I know, I know, seek the advice of an attorney. I got that part.

Now how should a newbie who will focus on free sites initially approach this 2257 stuff? I am just looking for suggestions from the board veterans.

I plan on using sponsor content and eventually buying my own content.

If you're buying your own content, just make sure you have the proper docs & it's your address on the 2257 links.

If it's sponsor content, technically I do not think that you can just link to their 2257 page - this is because the content is on your domain/site/server which makes you responsible for the 2257 docs. You have to treat sponsor content just like content you bought or produced as far as record keeping.

That being said, there have been no secondary producer inspections that we know of.

Would you say then that the safest thing to do as a "secondary producer" is only use bought content where the content provider provides 2257 documentation and avoid using a sponsor's content.

Do any sponsor's provide 2257 documentation about their models?

yes, but you usually need to request it directly.

not all sponsors will do this.

Why don't try useing Free Hosted Galleries, before you start contacting sponsors for ids.

Most programs are going to ask that you prove yourself before handeing over an ID to you.

Thats the fastest way to get banned. If the link list / tgp owner yould like to use free hostes galleries he'd use the ones with his affiliate id.

I have used them a couple of times as one of my 3 ad links on a freesite, but you have to careful that the link doesn't look blind. I don't know if it's a good use of ad space, though since it puts more content between the surfer and the join page.

I totally agree with Greenie. If you put CONTENT up, you are required to have an applicable 2257 statement. If it's your own, you'd be the first producer and if it's sponsors you'd be the secondary producer. As to whether or not you can link to it, I would suggest you might want to touch base with an attorney in the adult industry or the Free Speech Coalition.
