So Santa was good to me again this year. One of my favorite gifts has to be this cool new iphone

Not quite the best for typing on but still...pretty cool.

And, apple should be thanked. They make it so easy to buy things from itunes. A little too easy

Hats off to Apple for these, i looked at one the other day with low expectations like any gimmick but was surprised to see how good they are.

£270 here in the UK for an 8gb which is probably double what you guys pay.

I also found one under the dead tree.

After playing with it and using it for the last 24 hours I'm surprised at how much better it is then I thought it would be.

Besides a case for it I got this headphone adaptor so that I could use my favorite earbuds.

Surfing at at home is just as fast as my laptop and surfing this morning at IHOP using ATT's EDGE was not nearly as slow as I thought it would be.

Couple of minor annoyances that probably will be taken care of after a few software updates like no copy and paste, no MMS, notes on the phone don't sync with notes in Mail.app, and a few others.

In February Apple will be releasing developer kits to developers so I'm guessing we will be seeing some useful applications next year for it. I haven't tried it but I read that if you go to google it will detect that you are using an iPhone and take you to a page with Mobile Google Apps.

Not really worried about the lack of not being able to interchange batteries in in since I never did with my last few cell phones and my car already has an iPod charger in it that will also charge my iPhone but this looks interesting for a long outing.

First of all, you all suck

I am dying for an iPhone but they are not available in CDMA and I got 1 year left on my cell contract. But once its up, I'm moving to Rogers so I can get one.

My lovely wife did get me a iPod touch which is an iPhone minus everything good LOL. But I did jailbreak it already so have tons of goodies on it and a custom theme

I only figured out how to sync outlook today

Kind of sucks that you have to choose outlook as your default email client to do that but...it works. I even setup it's own email address for it. I don't think I will do anything fancy with it.

Speaking of email...what the hell do you use for an smtp server? I am using timewarner right now but I suspect that it won't work away from my network.

You need to use an authenticated SMTP server. This is a server that you put your user ID and password in the SMTP server settings.

Earthlink gave me one, Comcast gave me one, and Dot Mac comes with one.

See if Timewarner gives you one with your account.

If you hack the phone everything except visual voice mail works.

The problem is each time Apple releases an update it bricks the phone and you have to do a restore and then figure out how to reinstall your hacks.
