am I doing something wrong?

Hello,

I have been submitting free sites for around 6 weeks now, but without much success. I have been getting listed probably 85-90% of the time which is a good thing, but haven't been able to rack in but probably a dozen sales. From all that I have read it appears I am following the general guidelines of free site making, but without the results of the majority.

I have not heard 1 bad thing about free sites in all my searches on the subject which is why I'm worried. I don't know if it's in my wording or design, just bad luck or what. It's quite frustrating though to put in a few hours of work and to not get anything in return.

Here are some of my recent free sites I have created, and I would appreciate any tips any of you might have for me to make them better...

I do know that I need to play the search engines more, but I have tried submitting to DMoz without any success. Would it perhaps be worth it to get a free site builder just to use to submit sites to SEs? I'm not sure how much submissions SE's allow per day which is why I'm wondering if that would be smart.

I'm not looking for the book on how to make good with free sites, but a few tips to guide me in the right direction would be helpful.

I wish I had some advice for you, but I don't - those sites do look very nice to me, which is why I too am confused

One thing I can say is that with the SE thing, from what I've learned, it's better for them to find you as opposed to you going to them (except Dmoz - keep submitting to them & pray they eventually get to reviewing your sites - LOL)

You might want to take http://www.hornypornpost.com/ & move that page to main.html (or something like that) & change index.html to a warning page with a few link trades & a link on the bottom to a hub or sorts that lists all YOUR free sites. Then go out & trade soem 1st & 2nd page links with other TGP's & Link Lists (I can have MrMaryLou contact you about some trades with some of my crappy TGP's & link lists if you want - LOL)

If you can set up a few decent trades (for traffic as well as SE purposes) that may help things along a bit

Your sites look good, your getting some traffic from the LL's, the search engines should kick in with a few soon.(believe it or not you have 190+ pages in Google now

) and things should improve..

As you add more sites your "web" improves, and link pop etc will improve... as should sales.

Yes it just takes a bit more time sometimes. I may make a free site and make no sales on it for days then 3 sales the next day. As the SEs pick up those sites you will see better results. Also, it's a numbers game too so keep building.

On another note, I find making a stronger pitch on the index page helps sales too. Without creating an fpa on that page (meaning having to scroll too far down for the enter link) sell the sponsor a bit more.

Hi there...

my only two comments really address the same issue: These sites are made up of two "pages" plus pre-made galleries. The problem is that the galleries are not anywhere near the same folder as the rest of the site, and the design, colors, and general layout of the gallery pages has nothing to do with the rest of the site.

One i looked at had a light brown background for the first two pages, then the galleries come up green. It is like I went to a different site. Also the names of the galleries versus the title of the "sites" is not the same, which makes me think "front end on gallery pages" not site. I am not sure how the SE bots will look at this jumping around folder to folder either.

The overall designs and everything are good... nice quality. I assume these things will sell well with enough traffic to them.

I know I should give it more time which is precisely why I don't plan on giving up. It's just I was a bit frustrated how things have gone so far. Right now I'm probably only getting 2-3k per day total to all my free sites, but 2k of free site traffic is sending just as much hits to sponsors as 50k of TGP traffic, if not more.

Hopefully the SE's can start spidering more, and the hub idea is something I was planning on incorporating. I submitted a lot of free sites to DMoz around 3 weeks ago, but don't think they've been accepted yet. Do they inform you by email if they are accepted or do you have to find out for yourself if they have been listed?

Dave, you mentioned I had 190+ sites on google. I have a "fake" TGP with hundreds of categories which is probably what has been spidering, but I would be interested where I can go to find out how many sites I have listed in google.

I know my free sites look a bit different between the first 2 pages and the galleries, and that is due to I have been submitting those galleries to TGP's and then I add them to a new free site. I can fix that problem easily though. I personally think I'm done submitting to TGPs, because even when I get added to the quality TGPs, a bunch of crappy TGPs pick up my URLs and automatically list them which is a waste of bandwidth.
