Question Remember AVS!? Does it still work!?

First of all sorry if I offended anyone by the question ... the thing is that recently I've found few old domains of mine with decent amount of content on them. Now, I don't have the time or that much content (it's around 400-500 pics & few videos ... ) to play with it to be a pay sites & few years back I've being doing AVS places, oddly enough they still bring me some $$$ , but since then I don't know anything about them & recently (sorry for bad memory) someone here posted about them something in a manner "time long gone". Is that the case with AVS!?!?
If so does anyone have any suggestion what to do with content!?!? I just hate to see it stand there ... & yap, TGP's are done & free sites are there long time, remember the old banners one for all cats!? :-)

Long post for me ... now, is it worth the time & the effort to make now AVS out of them!? or should I look for another solution!?
Thanks in advance people ...

If you want traffic from the AVS link list then I think the time is gone. The traffic from them just isn't as profitable as it is from many other sources these days. On the other hand I don't really promote my old AVS sites and I still get 6 checks a months so selling a Premium AVS memberships is still bank.

If you can send enough traffic to make a few sales then why not make a Premium AVS site and get some rebills. If you think the AVS is going to sell the memberhips for you then that ain't going to happen any more.

I am still doing some (little) in avs. I only use Proadult, netverifier, sexkey and CA. The best working for me is Proadult eventhough things are not the same as two years ago. Now that You got the content why not use it for the above avs plus TGP galleries and freesites? What kind of pics are they? I have never been able to sell cute chicks on pics only. If I use pics on avs it has to be fetish or very hardcore niche. Also demands for designs has changed. I have sites at proadult which got the top votes from members because of the content but because of the design those sites hardly sell any new memberships.
BTW: What still really work good is upsell from proadult regular to proadult quantum on movie sites. You can make ex. a big movie quantum site and then use sets of the same movies for regular sites to upsell to quantum. I don't care for competion as I got another good job so adult sites is only for fun now

I would personally go the paysite route if you are just starting at it now... wait a bit more, get some more content and mainly work on your traffic, then control the entire members area, upsells, tour, price points and billing with no restrictions and without having to give anyone a cut except your billing co.

AVS links list traffic is sure not what it use to be, least from the last few sites I've built. Plus one big player is gone.

As SirMoby said, better off nowdays trying to sell AVS memberships. Or going for recurring avs sites, like platinum or quantum types.

Paysites can be quite expensive and some times not as profitable.

Kids are great, Appu. You can teach them to hate the things you hate and they practically raise themselves now-a-days, you know, with the internet and all

Short answer, yes there is still money in AVS, however as stated above the techniques have changed.

You might consider reading http://kblogger.com/blog/index.php/weblog/C34 for a step by step tutorial on AVS in 2005

I make more from AVS than my paysite. However I find the big AVS sites are the ones that make money (best one I have for profit has a minimum of 1000 pics, although I will not recommend them because their customer service sucks). But that is from selling memberships. If you are hoping for upsells, stick with free sites.

AVS isn't quite dead... if you want to make money with selling the AVS you need a good tour to sell the site, and if you want traffic with their link lists you need to find the right AVS systems that still send traffic, and you need to send your site hits, the days of just building an AVS site to get upsells and never promoting the actual site are over, from talking with a few people from AVS systems, most of them track whether you send them join hits, and if you don't then you won't get a ton of traffic back

Well, thanks guys
I was thinking more of avs through hub marketing & to be frank, I never ever had an upsell from AVS. It just didn't work for me ... I think I'm gonna build me few, hub'em & leave'em be. If they sell me a membership good ... if not, well what can I do |cool|

Not to mention, if you dont send avs memberships, your new sites might not even make the avs links list at all. Some wont even let you add new sites if you dont make member ship sales. Leeching off the lists is pretty much gone.

If you have content that is somewhat unique and is underrepresented on the AVS's linklist, you can still make a pretty penny upselling them.

Yes, the traffic from the linklists is about gone though. And the amount of material available allready on the list makes it less likely that the surfer will take the upsell (they see ti that they already pay for the AVS membership usually).

my two cents here

AVS is far from dead, although like everything else, it's changed a lot. I can't talk for straight AVS because all of my experience is in the gay market.

When AVS was the only show in town, webmasters could get away with putting up three pictures on a page and saying, "Click here for more." But now, with paysites, free sites, link lists, and TGPs, it takes a lot more than that to get the surfer to pull out their credit card. In my experience, the best AVS sites are hub sites that go on forever (preferably in the same genre or niche) offering preview pics, hot copy, and lots of cross selling from one gallery to another.

A lot of webmasters want to mass produce five sites a day with a couple of preview pics, submit them to every AVS on the planet, and then, complain because they don't make money. If you want to learn how to make better AVS galleries, e-mail your sponsor and ask for their help. They will know better what sells with their traffic. Whether they reply is another thing ... I find e-mail response from most sponsors is pretty abysmal.

Cheers
