My Story - Might help others open their eyes
Hi All,
I feel like telling you the story of my come back here in this business, quite a few things has happened to me the last year. I am really enjoying being back in the business, everybody has been more than friendly here on this board. And I have a firm belief that I will make it back to a level where I will be able to do this full time permanently. I've been working 2 1/2 years in a low cost airline here in Scandinavia and worked my ass off working day and nights for long periods, but you really come to realize that you will never get back the time you spend on working, and it's rare that someone gives you the recognition that you deserve slaving your ass off - and that never changes you'll always be a slave. I had a good boss and good colleagues though and the stewardesses was hot as hell, and the pay wasn't bad - but that is nothing compared to making your own living. The Airline went bankrupt in November and I was without a job and of cause they went bankrupt the day before we were paid! But then I have withdrawn my pension and we have a security net here in Denmark where the state pays you if the company where you work goes bankrupt, that includes pay in the severence period. So I now have enough money to concentrate 100% on my own business until at least August, and I don't need to drive 300 km a day to get back and forth to work. So the consequences of this job was also that my wife and I got so badly out of sync that we're getting a divorce(but parting as friends), I hardly had time to spend any real quality time with my two kids, I was stressed and could not sleep, always worrying about tasks at work. I was grumpy, short tempered and a real bastard to my wife. Hardly ever went to visit the family or my friends, I just couldn't set the time a side for it, when I had a day off I just did nothing - totally burned out! No amount of money is worth all that! I don't know why I am writing this, may be because loosing my job that I've spend all my time on the last two+ years has been a real eye opener to me! May be it'll be an eye opener to others as well... Being my own boss I only need to worry about if I have money enough to pay the rent and get some food - if everything fails(which I'm quite sure it won't) I can always get a couple of freelance jobs here and there and still survive and live properly. Kind regards Sodo

With so many leaving the business these days, it's nice to read a story where someone is getting back in, even if the circumstances that caused it are a bit depressing.
Thanks for sharing |

It depresses me to think of ever having to go back to computer consulting or something dreadful that involves actually having a schedule or having to leave the house to earn a living.
Personally I'm betting that next year will be much better both due to the economy improving and so many leaving the adult business. Long live porn and the horny masses! |

It's sad that people are leaving, I guess most of them are leaving due to their expenses has been growing the last few years(because they could afford it) and none of us could have foreseen that we would end up in a financial crisis as big as this one where people are getting fired everywhere, companies are standing in line at the bankrupcy cue and no one dares buying a house. I could easily have been in the same situation if I had not owed the state taxes and have not been able to pay, which means that I have not been allowed any loans for cars, a house or anything that could raise my expenses.
I have an advantage that I do not have high expenses, I have even cut back further by getting rid of my not too old car(they are expensive here) and bought a cheap old used one that better fits my needs and is a lot cheaper in insurance. Kind regards Sodo

Very good Sodo - I have to say I came back in October of 2007 and its because I enjoy doing it, and in times like these I find the challenge to be much more rewarding. Im not going anywhere, I think there is still plenty of opportunity in adult. With the help Ive received from this board and many of its members I was able to hit the ground running as I had been away for 2 years and many things had changed. I commend you for doing what youre doing, and wish you success in your comeback.

Suppose I could go back to selling appliances or stereos or cars, but nobody's buying them either, and it just wouldn't be as much fun as it used to be. Making a comeback is tough Sodo, but judging by the amount and quality of the sites you're putting out, you're not lacking in work ethic!

Thanks for wishing me luck and all. :o)
and no Sheepguy I am definitely not lacking work ethic ;o) - I just hope I can make my sites as different from each other as possible, it gets hard after a bit of time, you get kinda stuck in your ways....at least I do! and I hope you can keep up with my submissions Cleo you're right that for the ones who stays in the game things will probably improve once the economy becomes "normal" again... I really do not want to go back into working my ass off for some fucked up company again - it's just not worth the time, effort and worries! Terry glad I could help you get motivated today :o) Despite the recent things that has happened in my life I am definitely keepin' faith in myself most of it was probably enevitable anyway I think I have come a long way already - seems everyone accepts my sites, and I get signups and make a bit of money. And I feel right at home here - feels like I've never been away, that is mostly cause of a lot of people here being really helpfull and nice! Thanks all Kind regards Sodo

sodo, when i first was getting started in adult, it was probably some of the funnest, most rewarding times, coming as a pa in film where you are the bottom of the food chain and work on 15 hr days, which is the minimum, if it happens to be shitty weather, then everyone moves slower and your looking more at 18 or so. im in vancouver, so there is always a 99percent chance of rain.
when the luster wore off, i considered entering the real world labour force again, but what a shitty time for that, and self taught computer skills and film knowledge don't carry over much. i even failed my online interview for best buy because i wasn't sure if i would turn in a co-worker for stealing pens. the porn shops in my area are still in business and have been since i was a kid, so i figure people will always buy porn. good luck.

Thats a nice story!
Well i agree with Cleo, the economy will get better again, only i dont think it will be next year. I have bin yelling for 3 years now that i would leave biss....but it will never happen (some people are crying now), oke i do work less now but totally leaving biss will not be an option anymore, i am to hooked to the people i know and who i bug already for the last 9 years. I have to admit that i worked more hours a day in this biss then i ever worked for a boss a day, so thats something to keep in mind too, because its easier if you work from home to make more hours, at a boss you just get send home a certain time. I do hate to see that so many people are leaving biss, but maybe they will just like you Sodo return back when the time is right. So welcome back Sodo and good luck with your adult biss |

You have such a wonderful chance to rediscover life, and taste the world around you again. I have every belief that you will make it. The fact that you are coming back after being away tells me that you are used to the hard work, and knowing you won't be instantly rich. The business is different, but not all in a bad way.
I have had some real serious ups and downs the last 5 years - some that kept me away from a computer. I am back now, stronger than ever, and I have met some very lovely people here. Get to know them - don't be afraid to ask - network, and it will be so much richer this time, and it will help you fill the void of your new solitary state. Who knows? Maybe it won't last long?

I think I'm with Sheepguy in that I would probably be pretty much unemployable in the real world anymore. Not that I've ever really had a real full time job before, started in the biz after I was 18 and still in high school, really started making money the Jan after I graduated and have been going at it ever since. I've hit some low times where I worked part time at various places for a few months here and there until I manged to get things picked up again.
I think I'll be able to stick this biz out until things turn around for a couple of reasons. My wife's job was shipped to Mexico, so she qualified for something called the North American Free Trade Adjustment Act. Meaning she gets to go to school for free and receive full unemployment benefits the whole time she is in school. And we've adjusted our living standards so that her benefits basically cover our living expenses, so I'm hoping by being extremely frugal that I can make it thru until the world once again has money to spend on jacking off again. Then when she gets done with school, I'll have a sugar momma nurse, hahahhaa. But for sure the #1 reason I'll be able to stick it out is because of the side job I picked up working for Madhouse, he's a super hell of a guy, and has helped me out more than i think he'll ever know. I've been running his network of sites since December and not only has the money he's been paying me helped us get thru the toughest times, but he is helping me get my own network of traffic trading sites going. And I cant forget to mention another good friend of mine Xallow, he's been a great friend and has also helped me out and keep my drive for this biz alive. I love doing this biz, I've had times where I made more money than I could have ever dreamed of making, and I've had times where I would have been better off working at McDonalds, but I've always stuck with it. I think maybe I'm too stupid to give up, but I like to think of it as determination to make it work.
