Pages bug in 2.5

I've only just realised that my pages aren't showing up in 2.5. It's like the db doesn't recognise them. But I looked at old links and the pages are still there, but they're not listed in the sidebar or within the admin module.

There's a support forum post about it here:

I haven't read all of it but so far the solution is very unappetising: change my permalink structure.

Is anyone else having this issue?

I haven't upgraded any 2.3 installations to 2.5 yet, but I do have a new installation of 2.5 that's not having any trouble. I'm using custom permalink structure to get domain.com/blog/pagename and domain.com/blog/post-name.html and posts and pages are showing up just fine.

In case this is an 'upgrade-only' problem, it might be worth trying this.

Export your current database (or use the pre-upgrade export or backup you made) and then create a new fresh database to use with a new fresh install of WP 2.5. When you have a virgin db and virgin WP installation, check that the default settings work fine for making things show up as they should. Once you're sure of that, set your permalinks the way you want them, update your .htaccess file, and see if everything still displays the way it should. If everything looks good, you can import the data you exported from the other database. And hopefully that will take care of things.

Note: you can test this in another directory first if you don't want to take your live site offline. Then, if this fixes the problem, you can swap the old installation for the new one.

HTH

I hate 2.5.. there's a few bugs..

The image upload screws up alot.. If you install firestats it's buggy in IE but works fine in FF..

Also widgets have bugs as well , particularly the firestats ones as the box before you move it to sidebar shows code and when you move it you have a pain in the ass of a time editiing it and it wouldn't let me turn off show firestats logo.

Are these bugs in WP 2.5 or an incompatibility with an older plugin?

As I tend not to use widgets much - and have only a few beloved plugins - I haven't had much of a problem with the 3 blogs I'm running on 2.5. I will upgrade as I get time.

Since I only have a total of 4 pages from before, I think I'll just re-create them rather than buggerise around moving databases.

It's still a hassle, though

I have a cams page on a couple of my blogs which seems to come and go. Could be the host but never noticed it in 2.3. I find adding widgets less user friendly than before...sometimes it takes 2 or 3 shots to get it right.
