Building Link List Traffic
Hi all,
I've popped in here from time to time, but basically I'm new to this board. (I'm not new to the business.) I've been running a link list, Gay Porn Pig, for a couple of years, and while it's continued to grow, it just hasn't exploded like I thought it would. I'm afraid I probably suffered from a bit of the "if I build it" way of thinking. And the longer I'm running a link list, the less I discover I know about it. I'm wondering if I can get some feedback on building my traffic to the site and attracting more submitters. Thanks Michael |

Hi Michael
No words of wisdom from me about this one, but just wanted to say hi and good to see you around! Gay Porn Pig is a great Linklist IMO, looks very professional. I am not sure how much traffic you're looking for, I bet you do get plenty of bookmarkers.

Don't get discouraged; it's usually the last key that opens the lock...

I use freesites to help drive more and more traffic into my LLs along with purchased traffic and any link trades I setup. If you're not listed in the Resources section at the top of this page and under Get Traffic, then you need to get listed there to gain more quality submitters. Also, two years is not really what I would call a matured site so patience may be needed. Hope this helps some...

Yes there's no magic formula other than constant attention to every avenue of promotion. Every Free site, Blog, and Gallery you make should have your LL link, as well as your Sig on Discussion Boards. Make your own banners. Don't miss any opportunity to push your site.
The design of your site looks real good and its got lots of 'Sticky' material for Bookmarkers but I don't see any Link Trades. Start building these up - its a source of traffic and helps your SEO. Apart from that, as Lowry says, your site is still young. Keep persevering and I'm quite sure your traffic will build and build.

In the years that I've been doing this, I've only ever seen ONE new link list create massive traffic and become truly successful in its owner right. (No, I'm not going to name it here, but the own is/was a board member.) The rest of them which have been launched during that period, mine included, seem to drown in the trenches of mediocrity. Working a link list sucks balls - big, hairy, sweaty, nasty balls. (The strange this is, I know the guy has traffic, but I hardly ever see his recip on submitted free sites. Go figure. Maybe the traffic isn't on his category pages.)
