Temptresses.com/.net/.org -- Domains for Sale -- 80k

Um, uh...err... $80K for domains that have no site and no traffic???
BTW, the chances of you getting an 80K offer on ebay being a new seller who has zero transactions under your belt, and who just signed up this month to ebay is zero to none. Sorry :-(

Those numbers don't add up to $80K or even $8K in my book. Maybe it's that new math. |

Dude, gimme some of that stuff you're smoking.
Pros: * 1-word * Super-meaningful * Super-generic * Huge-market Cons: * Plural * No significant type-in-traffic * Word is clearly in broad-usage, but not popular-usage * Long-domain 43 searches per month, no traffic at all and a looooong word that is not even a word really. |

I still own ButtPlugBallFan.com if anyone is interested in a higher end domain name. I'm thinking of a number between 50 and 150k.
Pros- It rolls gently off the tongue and makes people smile. Cons- It's absofuckinglutely ridiculous and no one would ever search for it -ever ever.

Are you saying it's a ridiculously-small-niche ? Or is it merely unheard-of, as an exact-search-query ? I agree with you --- A domain does not need to be an exact-common-search-term, to be valuable. Both Anal-insertions™ and Temptresses™ are valuable-niches --- 'Temptresses'™ is rarely-genre-definitive (for charming-women), whereas, you're right --- 'ButtPlugBallFan'™ is amusing, and it does roll off the tongue. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...0096&rd=1&rd=1 |

This thread is over one year old. I was being facetious.
Now stop the trademarking bullshit.

If you want to represent sexy-women on the internet, then why not make 'Temptresses' your Long-Term-Trademark ? Some domain-investers simply prefer to Trademark buzzwords, or exploit buzzwords. If you're looking to build a Long-Term, Original, Quality-Website, then you should go with a domain that feels natural to you, rather than seeking a bargain-domain that exploits Buzzword-Power, through search-engine-hits/Type-in-Traffic. One-word-Dot-Coms are an extreme Seller's-Market, where pretty much any word which would have any clearly obvious relevance to surfers is already taken --- In such a market, disagreement about magnitude of value comes naturally. (Domains are also speculative in general, simply because the internet is young-and-revolutionary.) Last-year, KinkyGirls.com reportedly sold for $65,000 (and KinkyGirl.com for $25,000) If I'm being ridiculous, then show me the Genuine great deals for Quality-Dot-Coms that refer to charming-women --- with better Long-Term Trademark-power™, and-so-forth. It's been a solid year and you haven't been able to sell that domain. What does that say?

In some ways, The Domain-Market is very similar to The Real-Estate-Market. If you are an astute-investor who truly understands what would sell in either market --- you can simply, patiently, hunt for the most-underpriced-bargains you can find, and then immediately resell them for nice-quick-profits. Or, for-example, you can simply sit on a domain, that you acquired for a ridiculously-low-price, for the market, and ask for 3 times that amount, until you find a buyer, while profitting through no-brainer-rent, in the meantime. Sex.net sold for only $454,500 last-year, and it is presently listed at Moniker.com, with offers starting at $1,500,000 --- This would still be an excellent-deal, in my opinion. However, I would not be surprised, whether finding a buyer for that price, or more, would take years or days --- I have learned to expect-the-unexpected, in domain-sales. Personally, I believe that both Sex.net, and Sex.com, would have sold for significantly more, simply if more people ready to put down that kind of money had known that they were for sale. I will continue to reach more people, until I find a buyer --- I suspect that this would be more of a Domain-Developer, than a Domain-Sitter. I've also learned that Real-Estate is much more of an Established-Market, where uniquely-useful-property is much more tangible, and thus, respectable to people, even if it has been on the market for years, and whether it's underpriced for it's rarity, or whether it is super-overpriced, out of extreme-rarity---as-a-justification. Very-amusing. Temptresses™ |

What you are saying makes sense to a point, but i doubt it could be considered "nice-quick-profits" if you have to wait a couple years for an interested party knowing the potential of a domain, or just someone with more money than brains, to buy it.
If it works and you can do it, go for it, but i think most here are saying that theres a snowballs chance on the amount you want or are even considering it being worth. Brad™ |

For the nice-quick-profits, buy domains that are being undersold, compared to the current-market-trends, especially the trend for buzzword-power, which Temptresses.com lacks --- I was suggesting that 'Temptresses' is merely extremely-brandable/TradeMarkable™ (The obvious-popular-synonyms would be the words with buzzword-power). Thus, I was suggesting that Temptresses.com would offer rare long-term-value for the Website-Developers who would be inclined to Trademark the word, Temptresses™, and actually build off of this, through quality-content --- This is not an investment-opportunity, for those looking for "a quick return on investment". On the other hand, I was also trying to suggest that Temptresses.com is similar to Sex.net --- in that the vast majority of people who knew about the auction couldn't afford it, and, the few who could also afford it, let the domain go for, in my opinion, an extreme-bargain. My domains have almost no traffic, and I have only setup a few Ebay-auctions, and posted to the promo-areas of a few message-boards, and so forth. So, of-course, lack-of-exposure may be much more of a problem for me, than it was for the Sex.net-auction. That's the review. Temptresses™ |
