There are so many variables that it's all but impossible to answer that question. What works for me may not work for you and vice versa.

It was a pretty general question. I guess i was just lookin for other peoples experiences.

Do you know affiliates that do click thru so I can experiment?

Click the Resources link at the top of the page (just below the header) and then go to Sponsors. If you then load the master list and click the PPC column header it will sort PPC sponsors to the top of the list.

Every ppc adult affiliate program I've seen has something in the TOS saying that if your traffic doesn't convert 1:Whatever then they'll switch you over to PPS. Usually when you do the math it boils down to the fact that they'll only keep paying you per click if you'd be making more money on PPS with your traffic.

You can't keep blaming yourself. Just blame yourself once, and move on

Haven't done PPC in years because you have to maintain a certain conversion ratio or they switch you over to another program.

Max raises an important point. In our sponsor program, we looked at offering a pay-per-click program in addition to revshare and pay-per-sale. We decided not to offer pay-per-click once we understood how it was being used. It's a damn good way to get a lot more affiliates to sign up for a program. But it's not really a good way for affiliates to make money.*

Simon

* It used to be a good way for affiliates to make money, but I'm talking about today, in 2006, where the PPC terms in the standard TOS changes the deal significantly (to better protect the sponsor).
