Help me make my hosting company get my site back on the net for me!!!
Hey!!!
I'm looking for some unusual kind of a helping hand, so I'm not sure where to post this thread. Anyway, I decided to post it in 'Chit Chat', though I'd rather have posted it in 'Emergency' section, if they had one here. I handle a review site (http://www.porn-review-site.com). On 3rd of January I wanted to check my stats, when i suddenly found out that the site is down and just doesn't show up on the net. No site, no emails, no site management pages, no ftp server - nothing works! I definitely figured out that it was and is my hosting company's fault. So, I tried to contact them. I have my site hosted at skilledhost.com. First of all I submitted a support ticket on January the 3rd - no reply as yet. Then I tried to contact them a couple of times using all the support email addresses they specify in Contacts and Support section - no reply, whatsoever!! The last thing I was going to try to do is contact them by phone! Well, I found no phone numbers on their website! They also offer live online chat support! I was hoping i could make use of that feature! But their live support banner-button always says that live support team is offline at the moment. Does anybody know their (skilledhost.com) phone number? Does anybody else have the same problem. Does anybody else have their sites hosted on that company's servers. Any help will be useful and valuable. My site was already getting some good SE traffic and bringing some systematic sales. Now I'm totally perplexed! What should I do? I will really appreciate it, if you give me at least any tips or suggestions on what to do! |

You should have already started moving to a new host.

I've never moved to a new host before! What's the procedure of domain transfer?

SkilledHost.Com
kevin giger (admin@pornbash.com) +1.6186519362 Fax: 2810 Orchid Ct Highland, IL 62249 US Which appears to closely match their Contact Us info on their site. However, I am not entirely sure it is their fault. You use registerfly as a Registrar it seems, but, I cannot find the glue records for your domain name being published on the net. Since there are no NS records present, no nameserver can find you, thus, your site would appear dark. If you knew the IP address that your site had prior to the third, you might check to see if it is at least responding with something. Although, ns1.pornbash.com and ns2.pornbash.com don't appear to know anything authoritative about your domain either, but, that could be related to the problem above.

Here is the DNS report for your domain
http://www.dnsreport.com/tools/dnsre...eview-site.com It looks as if it's pornbash.com that's the problem. It also looks as if skilled host owns your domain name. If that is so, then you are building their business and not yours. You should never register your domains through your hosting company, it can give you major problems if you ever ned to move. |

Thanks for the contact info you found, cd34! I didn't think of looking for it in whois. I was trying to find something on their official website.
According to my data the Registrar is enom. Anyway, I have no idea what to do, if the problem is the one you described above. All i can do is just try to contact this Kevin Giger. I'll try to |

That way, your domain cannot be hijacked.

The domain is registered through registerfly, and they are eNOM resellers - you will need to contact them. However, the name is registered to your hosting company. so you can't do anything yourself. You need to have a look at your contract and see if you actually own the name, or if you are just licensed to use it. Did you pay for the name, or is it supplied as part of your hosting package?

Dude! Do you know how long you've been down? I do, cause I got fucked by UNskilled Host too. Lost everything on 11/28/05.
http://www.greenguysboard.com/board/...ht=skilledhost and http://www.greenguysboard.com/board/...3&postcount=18 That guy is a lying fucktard. Everything you had is gone and the boy is quite unapologetic about it. DO NOT sign back up with him. Find another host. I suggest http://www.colo-cation.com/ - That's where this board is hosted and Chris (Colo's owner) won't dump your shit on the curb or treat you like an asshole.

I found this quote in a post about them on another forum. I think you need to reg another name and load that up asap. I've probably got a spare one you can have for reg fee ($8.95) if you have trouble finding something.

Yauhen - did you register this domain yourself? If so, where? As far as I know, Unskilled doesn't register domains. So I think there is no need to panic about that end of it. Simply log into your domain registrar and type in the nameservers of whoever your new host is going to be. Let us know if you need to be talked through the process.

Heh Heh Heh! Lisa! Vampires are make believe, just like elves and gremlins and eskimos!

This may sound a bit harsh, but you should contact the FTC (Federal Trade Commission) and BBB (Better Business Bureau) for starters. Make a complaint with them that you are paying for service, and not getting jack! This will start a little fire under their ass. As an owner of a hosting company myself, trust that you DO NOT want to be on file with either of these agencies.
I think the issue here is how they are failing to support you. Even if it is an issue on your end, they should be more then willing to help you, and it should happen in a few hours, not days. I hate to see issues like this.. there are so many better hosts out there. |

Arghhhh...submit yer sites ya ruddy swabs!

Yikes...what a fuckin nightmare!
And I thought I was having a bad day... UW...I see your old pals are still at it I agree with the others Yauhen...your first step is to get a new host immediately. Sparky aka cd34 is a great host from what I'm told Looks like you might be screwed on the domain based on the Whois information But, domains are pretty easy to come by. As a matter of fact, given the circumstances...I'll give you a domain if you need one to get you back in the saddle again. I just renewed some at my registrar that I'm not using...you're welcome to one of em Best of luck to you...again, first thing is to get a new host! |

At first before reading everything, i was about to teach how to play around with your host file to see that site at your new location before the DNS change but this is another story.
Don't bend over this fast, it smells ! |

OMG how did the host get his domain under their names? Did skilledhost.com go into his account and steal his personal information in order to gather control of the domain?
This is indeed fraud! If I were you I'd be RED WITH ANGER! Time to boycott this company.

I agree, never let anyone own a domain you are building. They can take it away at any time and all of your work is down the drain

Why don't we all just build one page each about skilled host cross link them on all our servers soon when anyone searches they will get the nightmare stories listed it takes five minutes we use the persons name, and they get the rep.

I find he's used the pitch of "adult-friendly", possibly under the belief that webmasters of porn sites are more likely to let him get away with his nonsense because of the content of their sites. I've been idly monitoring him for quite some time now, and I'm pleased to see that's not the case. Kevin's YIM account is ihategodandyou@yahoo.com if anybody wants to have a chat with him. You may already know that if you've been researching him. He's been known by the user handle Project3, which is actually what spurred me to post here - your user handle is very similar. Projects 3 and 4? In fact, a user called Project4 has indeed been spotted promoting skilledhost as far back as... drumroll... January last year! Coincidence? Conspiracy? Clever imitation? Wait! Could your site be an IP-harvesting job? Are YOU actually Kevin? I think we should be told! Btw, I believe our friend Kevin is actually something like 29 years old. Yes, he's nearly 30. No, I couldn't believe it either. I thought he was about 12. Wonders never cease. Incidentally, Kevin is a big time hacker! You guys should be careful. He's been charged with hacking on no less than 3 different occasions, according to a badly-spelled forum post he made a few years back. I remember this stuff. Oh, yeah.
