Happy 4th. of July and Canada Day
I first want to wish all our Canadian friends a Happy Canada Day. I have to admit, I have no idea what it is. So, I am looking it up now, as I write this. Found it..."On June 20, 1868, a proclamation signed by the Governor General, Lord Monck, called upon all Her Majesty's loving subjects throughout Canada to join in the celebration of the anniversary of the formation of the union of the British North America provinces in a federation under the name of Canada on July 1st." So, it looks like Canada Day is the anniversary of the formation of Canada, I think. Or maybe, just the name. :) Anyway, happy Canada Day.

I almost went into a rant about how sad it is that most Americans have no idea about Holidays our Northern Neighbor has while they seem to know all about the holidays in America. But then I thought, maybe it's just a little American arrogance that makes me think that way. Or maybe, it's the arrogance making us not know most holidays in other countries while they seem to know all of ours :) Either way, there is arrogance there someplace.

On to the great American 4th. of July or Independence Day. :) As most people know by now, I am a Disabled American Veteran. You know this because I used to be very proud of putting so much of myself into protecting the American way of life, I injured myself for life doing it. Recent revelations about our beloved American Solders killing innocent civilians in Iraq, the whole NY Times Witch Hunt and all the other crap that has been happening to our country has made me rethink what exactly I was proud of. And after thinking long and hard, I am still proud, You probably thought that I was about to say that I am no longer proud. And, I almost did. But, I am still proud to be a Disabled Veteran because I did it for the idea of America. I am proud of the idea of Free Speech. I am proud of the idea of Separation of Church and State. And above all, I am still proud knowing that Americans in general are not the tyrants you see everyday on cable news shows and in the current administration.

So, Happy Fucking 4th. of July to my fellow Americans. November is right around the corner. That fact alone is reason enough to celebrate this "Independence Day".
