Back to the Grind

If you are anything like me, every once in a while, you find the thought of going back to work almost unbearable. This mostly happens after taking a few days off...or fooling yourself into thinking you took a few days off.

While this is not what I would call "burn out", when this happens, it is a sign that "burn out" is on it's way. So, why is it we in this business seem to get burned out more than people in the "real" world?

I have many friends that are not in the business that think "we" have dream jobs. After all, we get paid to look at porn all day. If you work from home like myself, you don't have to drive to work. You can take breaks whenever you want to. You can even go to work in your underwear if you would like. They want to know, what the hell do we have to complain about?

My answer is always the same. When they go to work and come home, they are done with work for the day. It's time to wind down and relax. We, in the business, are never home from work. Most of us are as busy at 6:00PM as we are at 8:00AM. It is the equivalent to going to a "real" job one day and never leaving.

I have a friend that passed away 2 years ago last Christmas Eve that put it best. The closest job to ours is that of a farmer. Farmers are always at work and need to continually tend to their crops and/or livestock. If they let it go for a day, there are major problems.

But, here is the difference...
We can leave for a few days. We just tell ourselves that we can't. We can even take a week or two off and actually still be making money. Taking time off as often as possible is very important in our business. If you start to dread going online, it's time for a vacation. If you don't take care of yourself and your families, you will cause damage not only to yourself and family but also to the business you are working so many hours to build. Whatever it takes...get some time to spend with yourself and families. You will be happier, your families will be happier and when you come back to work, your business will do better.

Have a Good Day
