Does TGP Traffic Suck?
Last week on our forum, someone asked, "Is it just me or does TGP traffic suck?" I decided to reserve my answer until today.
Since the advent of TGPs, getting people to sign up to pay sites has been getting more and more difficult. So, is it because TGP traffic sucks or that TGPs have successfully educated the surfer on how to get good free content? I personally think that the latter is truer than the wide paint brush of saying, "TGP traffic sucks".
If surfers are now more educated, how do we retrain them into knowing that the best content is within a pay site? Doing this is a little trickier than you might think. There is a fine line of the amount and quality of content you need to get listed on your favorite TGP and the amount and quality you want to use to persuade the surfer to go to a pay site for the "good stuff".
The amount of content is easy. Never have more pictures than the minimum to get listed on your favorite TGP. The quality is the tricky part and is going to rely on quite a bit of trial and error. Look at your content and find the best content you have and the worst content you have. Start with a middle ground and go from there. If you get listed right away, use a lesser quality batch of content for your next gallery. If you don't get listed, use better quality content for your next gallery. Keep going with this experiment until you finally zero in on content that is both accepted by your favorite TGP and yet, entices the surfer to sign up to a program's pay site. But remember, TGP owners are as different with their standards as anyone else. A page that might get listed on one TGP may not get listed on the next. As I said, this will rely heavily on trial and error.
