I think it is good news too as I have been using CCBill for years now. In every other aspect, I love CCBill. But I must warn everyone......
I have had the 900 one time sign up with CCBill since they offered it a year ago and have been paid only 3 times or so in that entire year. I have spoken to CCBill Reps about this and the reasons are as follows and this I quote from CCBill: "900 numbers are risky in that it takes anywhere from 120 days to 6 months to be paid and that is also based on IF the customer pays their phone bill on time and IF the customer even pays their phone bill." "There is no set time when payment is sent to clients for the 900 number sign ups, whether it be one time or recurring. CCBill pays out when funds are received, not every month or even every other month. It is purely random." I had about 65 phone sign ups in an entire year and of that, I have received three or four payments totaling under $600.00 from what I can tell. Just food for thought. Linda

During the course of 2004, statistics show that of my membership whether current or expired, those who used the 900 one time sign up was less than 4% and I have not received payment for probably half of those sign-ups. It seems to me that the recurring phone sign ups would be worse, both in sign ups and pay outs.
Not trying to trash a new program.....It just doesn't work for me. Linda

Phone billing definitely has its drawbacks... eg; the wait for $$ and "they"can still chargeback or refund a phone payment....
..but it's a step in the right direction... DD

4% is quite a bit to leave on the table.
Waiting for payment should not be a big issue. (it's only 4% right :-) 4% more B/W out of the members area is not such a big issue and really won't affect your hosting costs. So why leave it on the table? Especially with the recurring option now in the equation? If the recurring is anything like checks then it will be good. and on that token, check billing has always had problems with 40%+ being bad. Even with that your leaving money on the table if you don't process checks. (plenty of data out there to verify this) I don't see why phone billing would be any different? Discuss............... Cheers, BV |

Waiting aint bad...anybody that has ever done support on a paysite has gotten emails saying
i don't have a cc and why don't you have a pay by phone. Fuck using check option its takes too long and by then they have what they want from your site for free. 25k in a month in checks to only have 5-10k good Yes you have to wait for it but hell if your life depends on it that badly your in the wrong biz. Hell ccbill gets anywheres from 10-15% processing cc's Its a good step in the right direction |

Anything that brings in more money is good!
Just wish they would come out some better ways of processing foreign traffic better than having to use dialers. Some niches can run as high as 75% European or Asian traffic and the CB rules are really making a dent in the bottom line. |

This is a kick ass option.
True, you have to wait for your money but it is worth it. Leaving the 900 money on the table would be foolish. The more payment options the better! |
