Hosting, Telnet and crontabs

I really don't know where to go with this.

Basically I've purchased Blogs Organiser and to run it properly I have to set up cronjobs. I asked my Hosting Company to do it but they said I have to Telnet the server which immediately made my eyes glaze over.

I've Googled Telnet and crontab so I've now got a vague idea what they are but am I correct in thinking the Hosting Company should do it?
My Hosts don't have a Cpanel either. Would I be better off changing hosting company? Apart from this they've always been very helpful to me. Or am I asking too much of them? I just don't know, and anybody else's experience or views would be gratefully received.
Cheers.
