Let's talk UCJ

Hey guys, let's talk about UCJ. What is so good about this script and what isn't. For such a heavy price I thought I'd ask around before I comit to anything. I know it's highly recognized and used by almost all the big fish but why is it so popular?
If you guys could just give me a few pros and cons I'd be very thankful.

Tease, not sure we have met, but a quick history, Im John I use to run Piggy Cash, at the same time I ran that affiliate program, I also ran 25 Tgp's, all of which ran UCJ. Ive tested other scripts, and with the same effort as UCJ, my traffic using UCJ always exploded over any other script I tested. The learning curve wasnt anything insane (there is one ofcourse), but it was butter to the others ive tried. in the years Ive been around Ive seen many come and go, UCJ isnt one that has gone. Tim who designed it may be super busy and somewhat hard to get a hold of at times, but his script is the real thing and it paid for itself 10 fold.

Just My honest Opinion based on previous travels

UCJ is a solid script but it won't do your work for you. I have grown TGPs just as large or larger with free scripts like CJ Ultra. Ultimately, growth depends on the time and effort you put into your site, not the script you use. UCJ does have some nice security features and protection you won't get with some scripts but they are not fullproof.

The main problem I have with script is if you buy several copies of it and change hosts, you have to pay $100 per copy for the server move. If you have 10 copies and change hosts or servers serveral times, that's a pretty big expense when compared to some scripts that you can install yourself or that come with free server moves.

I'm building 30 new TGPs right now to promote my paysites and the traffic trading script is the least of my concerns.

True, its a misconception amongst newbies that they can become the next hun or worldsex simply by starting a TGP, getting a traffic trade script, and adding trade after trade. One must continuously work to drive quality traffic to their TGP in order to see it grow.

UCJ is a wicked script, no denying it but Rictor is 100% right. Your trades will only be as successful as your ability to "figure it out". And let me just say, it's no party. Right when you think you "have it" your site goes down 25%. Frustrating as hell.

I would suggest checking out http://madthumbs.com/madcj/ if your just getting started. It is absolutely top notch and Mike from MadThumbs.com is one of (if not THEE) most successful TGP owners out there. The free version skims .09% and you can pay for a no skimming version.

I would like to add comment to DangerDave's entry to the thread. While it's all nice and dandy to have everything organized, 80% of the people that come here don't visit the other categories on this site (just a guess really). Posting something in one of the other forums cuts your market down to very little.

1. because there aren't a TON of posters on this board as it is
2. because a fraction of all the visitors to this BBS go to the sub-categories
3. then your betting on a fraction of that fraction to respond

While many of us are here because we don't care for the riff raff on GFY, you have to admit. Their 3 category simple approach to a BBS is incredibly successful.

There are days when I will check all 3 forums on GFY (though still a fraction of the times that I'll just check main). The only way I would check all categories on this board is if I lost a bet (no offense intended).

The kings of paid scripts are UCJ and TM3.

The best free trade scripts are Arrow, Traffic Drive and TTT. I have not tried MadCJ but have tried all others.

If you have never used a script before, I would recommend TTT as it is easy to learn and use. I would not invest in a paid script until you are comfortable with the tgp business.

The main advantages to paid scripts are: they don't take a % of your traffic and they offer a multitude of ways to manipulate and manage your traffic. I use one on my primary hub to make certain I am optimizing traffic monetization. Once you really learn UCJ and TM3, there are almost endless possiblities to "manage" your traffic, but they require an already advanced knowledge of trading and tgp profitability. Use free scripts to learn that, until you can sell a weeks worth of deducted traffic to buy a paid script.

Jason, my "comment" was nothing but a gentle reminder. The other forums exist so that specific stuff is discussed in the appropriate forum.

I dont give a shit about UCJ or any other BS jerk script, and I dont see why it should be on the main board.. it is circle-jerk related only, and at a stretch TGP related and therefore NOT GENERAL BUSINESS! Therefore it should be in the script forum or the TGP forum..

Additionally this board is not here for your "marketing", it is for discussion for all.

I for one disagree... IMO GFY is a quagmire of bullshit and a monumental waste of bandwidth... but that is just my opinion and therefore I don't go there or post there.

Tease from a previous trader to a soon to be trader, the biggest suggestion I can make is that in business there are always risks, you only get back what you put in, and to make money it takes money. I know all shit youve heard before, but all very true, my Tgp's have dropped tremendously in traffic for 2 reasons:

1) no more time
2) I didnt want to fuck my surfers around anymore and wanted to take the quality angle and grow bookmarks.

It's an expensive chance, UCJ has been around forever like anything else it has it's risks, it's goods and it's bads.

DD I have to agree with you, it's easy to assume things but the real fact is, those sections are there for a reason, and even myself who never went to other sections of the board now always checks in to see if theres anyone needing anything that I might be able to help with. - Back scratching right brother
