Recommendations for a cheap USB hard drive

Once again we have run out of backup space so need something at least 1 TB or bigger.

Already have a 350 gig drive and 1 TB drive and now we need to add a third drive.

Don't care about speed or looks since it will just be plugged into our AirPort base station's USB hub out of sight and connecting to the our network via either ethernet or WiFi backing up using Time Machine on each Mac.

I see this one at Amazon

3 TB for $119.99
or
2 TB for $99.99
or
1 TB for $79.99

Is this about as cheap as it gets or does anyone know of better deals?

That is about as cheap as I've seen. I paid roughly the same for my last WD 1TB usb3that was usb driven only, no plugging in like the ones you listed.

I prefer no power supply for portability and mostly limiting how many things I have to plug in but you may not have that worry.

Got mine at crapmart while traveling, best buy sold the same one for 99.99

last one i got was 1tb Iomega, it was $70 at the time at compusa.

Those seem like good prices for those. I found a cheaper 1TB WD Hard Drive over at NewEgg. Don't know if you have to have a Seagate or not.

We really only need another 1 TB and that is a good price with free shipping so that may be a winner.

This is what it gets plugged into so basically anything beyond the cheapest USB drive is a waste.

I bought an 3 TB external HD for my TiVo but it was not comparable, so I put it back in the box & it's just been sitting here. I paid $149.99 for it back in Sept, so if anyone wants it for the same price, I'll pay to ship/mail it to you

If your computer supports usb 3.0 make sure to get that. way faster

Not going to be plugged into a computer. It gets plugged io the USB port of an Airport Extreme for use with TimeMachine. Port on the Airport is USB 2 so speed is unimportant.

For drives connected to our computers we use FireWire 800 drives.

I went for the 2 TB one which is twice as big as what we need.

So after this drive arrives we will have three dives connected to the Airport base station for use with TimeMachine. One 320 gig, one 1TB and one 2 TB.

Now all I need is a Flux Capacitor so that I can learn all the winning sport and lottery numbers and become so rich that I can have my own liar in a volcano protected by sharks with lasers mounted on their heads, groovy man.
