I like checks (I let them pile up without cashing them for awhile so that I don't get the urge to piss all my money away on useless crap)

Trying is the first step towards failure

I prefer good old paper checks, so that's where my vote went. I have this real thing about check stubs for bookkeeping reasons, plus I much prefer having the funds in my hands even if it does take a couple of extra days to get it here. I do most of my banking via ATM anyway as I live halfway across town from my credit union, but the post office is only a few blocks from there so I can do all the check gathering and depositing in one trip once a week. However, I suppose if sponsors offered some way of printing out a "payment receipt" or check stub online, Epassporte wouldn't be bad...
I'm just not comfortable handing out my banking information to anybody who asks for it. I've recently been the victim of identity theft and I guess I'm a little paranoid now. Once per lifetime is more than enough for that BS

Direct Deposit because fast and instant. On the down side, I had ARS remove money from my business bank account. Not cool

I'm with Wenchy - give me a paper trail. It makes my record keeping more simple and accurate.
I have one sponsor paying me via ePassporte, and that makes for a great "petty cash" fund for domain renewals, StatsRemote payments, Target.com (damn them! How dare they accept ePassport Visa!) etc. - almost feels like "free" money. I would like to see a lower minimum payout from some sponsors. $50 is fine; $100 is too high. I don't promote all sponsors equally and it's not uncommon for a few weeks to go by before I hit the magic number. (In some cases, months or even years - I kid you not.) Cash that is not flowing does me little good. |

I pushed the "Regular Checks" button. But that's probably because I don't know exactly how this whole ePassporte thing works

$1000 is usually the minimum for wires. Cost to cash a check for me: $2 = 0.2% fee Cost for a wire for me: $35 + $12 = 4.7% fee If you add all the small fees you pay over the year, it adds up to pretty much and I like to keep unnecessary fees to a minimum |

That's my cue. Well.. it really is very simple. Get an ePassporte Personal Account - Either go to https://www.epassporte.com/ and get one, or find a sponsor that will give you one. You can get a Virtual account issued to you within minutes. Tell your sponsors that you wish to be paid by ePassporte and give them your ePassporte account username. That is all they need. -- You can use the same ePassporte account with each sponsor you promote. Sponsors will push payments onto your account on their usual schedule. BUT............... -> You get your payment instantly. No waiting for mail, no lost mail, no worry about the check clearing, no updating your address with sponsor. -> You receive your money at no cost to you (unlike PayPal who takes a fee for receiving the money for you). -> You can shop online and spend your money with your Virtual Visa. -> You can add an Electron Card to your account and pull cash from ATM's or shop at your favorite stores. -> You can send money to any other ePassporte account holder instantly, anywhere in the world, for less than the cost of a stamp. (P2P) -> You have a documented transaction history online so that you can print out for your records. -> You can increase your limits based on your particular needs. -> US account holders may transfer funds to their US bank account. -> No Internet access? No problem! You can check your balance, transfer funds, or re-load your account from your mobile phone. Cheaper than wires, faster than checks. The Power of Visa. How many more reasons do you really need? Write to me if you have questions. Rand @ ePassporte .com |

When I finally broke down and went to get an ePassporte account and looked at a free one from a sponsor but I didn't like the way my account would have been so I just went to ePassporte and got an account. Simple, painless, got just the account name I wanted. It did cost a couple of dollars, can't remember exactly but it wasn't much, I got the extra card and stuff.
I got a tax question about ePassporte. I'm a corporation so my sponsors have corporation tax ID. If a sponsor pays me by check it goes into my corporation's account and if I want to personally use that money I have to take it out as salary so I have to pay taxes on it. ePassporte I just take it out with the ATM card and it seems to me that I have unreported income since I've basically been given cash with no real records since you are not required to file anything when a business is making out checks to a corporation. Nothing really filed on me as payments and well cash is… Not that I would ever cheat on my taxes and not report all my income or anything. |

Cleo - I'm not exactly sure I understand your question. But, I'm in no poistion to offer anyone tax advice. You may want to confer with your accountant.

Send me a check -
I do have an ePassporte account - used once. If I need to use it again, I'll transfer the funds. Plus I love the look on the tellers faces when there's a bunch of them. (remember this is a really small town - I know everyone at the bank) Though I agree on the 100.00 minumum being too high. I'll try out a sponsor.. make a sale or two, but if the conversions suck, it can take a long ass time to get paid. Fortunately, there hasn't been too many sponsors going belly up for quite awhile.

Cleo,
You might want to use the transfer to a US Bank Account rather than the ATM -- at least that way you have a paper trail. If you take it out at the ATM, you need to save that receipt and record it in your accounting as a separate accounting entry of cash in/cash out.

I'll take checks every time. That way if there's an error I have a document in my hand and not just a string of numbers in a transaction ID. It also forces me to take notice of who pays on time and who doesn't. The fees do piss me off though.

The only thing I don't like about epassporte is the $2.00 charge most, but not all, sponsors charge. But I still like epassporte the best.
