Unhappy 17 year old girl on the phone ... BAM!!!

Coming home from the gym and grocery store sitting at a traffic light just a few blocks from home and BAM!

Seventeen year old girl talking on the phone rear ends me without even slowing down. I get out of my car and she is still talking on the fucking phone not wanting to get off of it. Finally get her to get off the phone and she tries to tell me that she got a tire blowout except she has no flat tires. She gets back on the phone and calls her mom who shows up and bitch slaps her. Cops show up and she is back on the phone not wanting to get off the phone even after the cop tells her to.

Good thing I had just upped my coverage to include express repair and car rental. I'll be dropping my car off tomorrow morning and getting a rent-a-crap. Looks like my Vette needs a new bumper cover, backup light, and exhaust pipe/muffler assembly but no body work so hopefully I'll have my car back quickly.

Her Toyota is in pretty bad shape with the hood and whole front end wiped out and naturally she got a ticket so I guess at some point I may get my deductible back.

At least no one was hurt.

I was almost hit by a Durango the other day by someone talking on the cell... For sure if she didnt "stop" it would have been very bad for me and her coverage.

Sorry about the 'vett...

Damn cell phones.

When I was young we didn't have phones, just Quaaludes, to cause us to get into wrecks.

I can't wait. In June or July a law goes into effect in California that will make talking on a cell without a handsfree devicea ticketable offense. Unfortunately, if memory servers it's a very small fine.

Every day I have to dodge an idiot or two trying to pick up their kids and talk to their friend's on the phone at the same time. You'd think if you were driving through a parking lot filled with kids you'd have something better to do than talk on the phone...like not running over children!

If your cops enforce that law the way our cops in NY do, it won't change a fucking thing. In fact, I think people talk on their hand-held cells more now than ever. As GG knows, I'm not what you'd call, a [AIR QUOTES]cellphone person[/AIR QUOTES]. So I REALLY don't understand why someone feels the need to chat while driving.

I'm happy to hear that you restrained yourself from strangling the little bitch, no matter how much she may have deserved it, Cleo.

I was out with a friend the other day and I was complaining about people driving and talking on cell phones. He tells me soon where we live it will be illegal. I hope so. Nothing pisses me off more than seeing someone moving along in a vehicle (especially a large one) and talking on a cell phone. I've seen a woman coming up to a red light while holding a phone with one hand and picking at her nose with the other, while checking herself in the mirror.

If I know someone is probably traveling on the road I don't even bother trying to call them. I've seen people grabbing at their phone while driving and not pay attention to what they're doing. I don't want to help anyone kill themselves or someone else over a stupid phone conversation.

The cop was great... I had like a half dozen insurance cards from Geico but not the latest that showed my insurance was current so he was going to write me a ticked for no valid insurance card. He finally settled for talking to Geico on my cell phone for proof on insurance.

Strange thing is my Geico card is just something that I print out from their website. Maybe I should print one out a millennium card shows I'm paid up to 3008 so I can stop filling my wallet up with Geico cards.

You've vividly described a very uncool image. To think about it, you've described me driving around in my 2004 Hyundai accent! I am glad to hear that you weren't hurt.

Damn, Cleo, sorry to hear about the accident. Glad you seem to be okay too, though I'm sure you're bummed about the car having to be in the shop for awhile.

Down here we have tourists who bump into you while walking down the sidewalk because they're using their cellphone to send their friend a photo of whatever next beautiful thing they've stumbled upon. A lot of them seem to spend more time sending pics of where they are than enjoying where they are.

Hope your Vette gets back to you soon.

that sucks, but those kinds of things wont happen in holland, first you may not drive a car here in holland if you are under 18 years old, second to get your drivens licenses now a days here will realy take you more then a year, third, you may only phone in your car here handfree and the ticket for using your phone not handsfree in the car is about 700 bucks

Dropped off the Vette.

Geico says just a couple of days if the parts are in stock.

Geico gave me a Nissan Versa that is costing me just $4 a day.

They've had the hands free law in England, for a few years, but people only seem to use the hands free when there is a police car about. Which is nearly never...

I'm happy you didn't bitch slap that phone out of her ear before the mother had a chance to.

Here in NV it's been against the law to talk on the cell but I doubt it's enforced since some of our LVPD have been caught talking and driving too.

good job on the restraint.. i wanted to slap her just reading your post

I'm not all that sure hands free helps that much. Seems like many people are in another world while talking even if it is someone else in the car that they are talking to.

wel i think there is a difference, my hubby for example has a car kit for his phone, that way, he has 2 hands to use to drive the car in a straight line, the bad is when people keep their cellphone in their hand that they are realy are carried away, you cant keep the phone in your hand and drive a car (damn small phones, i see some driving with the phone on their shoulder and trying to keep it there with their chin, it wont work), handsfree does work, the only thing i dont understand here is why people on a bike may use their cellphone, ever see a person on a bike using their cellphone, you would think they are drunk the way they drive.

Nothing is ever that important they can't pull over or wait to make a call.

Most auto accisdents involve people using cell phones.
Most accidental deaths in America are caused by auto accidents.

Why in fuck is it even legal to talk on the phone while driving? If our President wanted to protect us then wouldn't he be pushing to save our lives from idiots using cell phones while driving?

This is the penalty for doing it here...
http://www.thinkroadsafety.gov.uk/ca...bilephones.htm

Maximum points on a UK license is 12 before a ban so most people can afford the odd 3 here and there.

I'm glad you're ok. Hope you won't get any whiplash effects later on.

I hardly ever talk on my cell phone, let alone in the car. Actually, over here, cops are fairly good about it. People don't talk much on the phone while driving because if they get spotted by police they WILL get a very heavy fine.
