1099 Fuck Ups To Watch Out For
Just a tip for all you US webmasters that have companies set up - double check the Recipient's Name & Recipient's ID Number on the 1099's that you are sent from your sponsors.
I have found 3 so far that have my personal name and/or social security number on them. I logged into the admin for each & the info in there has my company name & Federal ID Number. I know that the problem is due to me changing my info over last year when I got my company name, but the bad thing is that when the IRS see's the 1099's from these 3 sponsors, they will put in that the income I recv'd was to ME and NOT my company I just got done emailing each of the sponsors asking for corrected 1099's to me sent to me as well as the IRS - make sure you tell them to mail them to the IRS as well as that is the most important thing! |

Not to mention
check the amounts!!
One of the sponsors we have had to send a corrected 1099 4 times till they got it right. and even now i'm not positively sure. IRS |raygun| |

guitar riff - I think I know who you are talking about & those are legit - there's at least 2 sponsor's using that same business name to cut checks.

And to those that send them out, be very careful about the ones you send to the IRS. I was fined $20K for doing some wrong.

Yeah GG i understand that but
The Numbers are exactly the same dollar amounts I mean exact to the cent and just went thru my check stubs from 2003 and no checks from this Sponsor or sponsors . at all. I didnt remeber ever promoting them so i checked my reciepts. ( Learned the hard way in 94 to save reciepts, check stubs and anything else pertaining to taxes or money) . Like i said ill keep all informed i will try to call them again here in the hour. |

That does suck I'd be bitching as well.
Just an update on my 3 problems - one will be solved ASAP & the other 2 have not yet replied Also, it's funny how some of these companies don't even know the US Tax Laws - you don;t have to send out a 1099 if the person/company earned less than $600 in the year. I got one today for $311.18 - LOL |

I remember last year I recieved a 1099 from a company (a VERY Popular company), and it stated we made $80,000+ with them over the year, addressed right, came right on time, only problem was no matter how many times I did the math I couldnt figure out how $35 a week x 52 weeks came out to $80,000...
Sly move though by the assholes I trust no one. |

I called them and talked to a woman in accounting, they are blaming Ibill. She sent all info to the webmaster and if I don't hear back from them I will be calling this week. |

The last I heard, iBill didn't send out the 1099's - the program owner is responsible as far as I know.
Of course, I've never gotten a 1099 from ANY programs that I get piad directly thru iBill or any other sponsor. |

Can't argue, can only repeat what was told to me.
We did a shoot with them in August, I got paid $500 and the 2 separate 1099's I got was for more then that, the accountant I spoke to said it was combined with the affiliate sales I made, but I don't think I made that much since I hardly push them. And that still doesn’t account for the 2 separate 1099's under 2 different company names. I'm calling them back tomorrow if they don't call me today. All in all they fucked up |

I just got a letter from them today
It says they DID NOT send this to the IRS, and that I should consult my stats with Ibill/CCbill to file my taxes. Guess this means I will not be getting a correct 1099. |

Seriously, we should all be keeping track of how much money we make on our own. In 6 years of business, I've never gotten 1099's from all my sponsors - I'm actually lucky if I get 25% of them. My main problem is the 25% that I get are sometimes fucked up (4 of the 10 I've gotten so far this year are fucked - so far 1 has replied & will be sending a corrected form) I even had one sponsor tell me that they were not going to be sending me a 1099 because I have a business & I'm not doing this in my personal name. I have to scratch my head, as there is no other way to report the outgoing money on the Federal Corporate return (according to my accountant) |

I'm not interested in the facts, I'm interested in my opinion.
|
Since I am an S-Corp, my accountant said that it didn't matter.
(2 of the 1099's had my name, but my business tax I.D. and the checks they had sent were made out to the Company.) I'm not sure what the case is to other types of Corps. or LLC's or anything, but it didn't matter in my case. |

It might be that my accountant is paranoid, but any 1099's that come in with my name and/or social security number, he asks me to get a corrected copy OR he moves that money from the corporate return to the federal return.
All any of us needs is the IRS asking why X amount of dollars show coming into our personal accounts & it wasn't reported |

I went looking for a 1099 from Extreme Paychecks and was told that they did not issue 1099s. How can they not?
