Cheating is 1000% more than a year ago?
Granted, MML's quote was pulled from the TGP forum, but I think is part of the bigger picture.
Quote:
What is the biggest abuse by people overall? What factors over the past year or so has made the adult industry spawn so much more cheating? |

Worst that I have ever seen it.
I would say that in less then a year just about all decent sources of traffic will require a partner account. |

Surfn,
So, it's not people who were already in the biz, but newbies? Bad economy = more people looking for a quick buck I suppose. |

Looking at my admin I would say that it is mostly from the former U.S.S.R. countries.
I think it is due to the mind set of having to work around the system in order to succeed. |

NO! Im not a female - but being a dragon, I do eat them.

In addition to the reasons already posted, there is also a proliferation of new sponsors who think that giving tools to their WMs to cheat with is a good course of business - along with the advent of hosted galleries, loads more sponsor content and sponsors free hosts that are all part of the expansion of sponsors trying to also get their bigger piece of the pie - but have led to a lot of WMs that are being considered cheats because they've been misled by the sponsor.
Remember that the sponsors think it terms of quantity - whereas most of the LLs and TGPs think in terms of quality - and it brings about a large conflict |

I don't think I'm adding 1/3rd of the sites submitted to me - too many scammers or uneducated webmasters. The bad part is that you can't really tell one from the other

The problem is the ease of access to our industry, inherent anonymity, and the mindset of webmasters who are not in this for the long haul. Those are honestly the problems.
My own 10 year old daughter can build websites remarkably well. She recently even installed a forum script! Since getting into the industry is so easy, it's only natural that we're getting swamped by new entrants. Since they're not career adult webmasters, they have no fear in breaking the rules. Tightening legislation will cut down their numbers, but - just like every industry sector - they'll never go away. |

I hate to single out any area of the world but whenever I suspect something and do a whois it is more than 75% of the time it's a russian webmaster. Many times they are not even cheating (meaning redirecting) but submitting under 6 different names using 6 different emails and domains.
As the internet reaches more areas of the world where $1000 US will provide a good living to people not paying taxes on that money it will only get worse. Getting to the question of abuse overall? It's submitting under different names and emails constantly for link lists. For TGPs I bet it is redirecting for sure. |

Just because you have access to the tools and can make them do something doesn't mean you will build anything but a big ugly mess of crap. |

Dude chill, no one is insulting you or her.
First I was not talking about you or her when I was bitching about people who build crap. You are the one that felt you needed to brag about your daughter's coding skills. Actually I was complementing you and your daughter that you had taught her how to code by hand so I would welcome submits from her if she was old enough to work in this industry. That is unless you see something wrong with working in this industry when she is old enough. |

Wow. 1/3rd of all basic free sites submitted don't get accepted?
Is this pretty much other list owner's experience? 1/3rd is just crap. More internet access in countries where survival is all that counts. A couple years ago my friend told me they just got an Internet Cafe in Croatia, but it was still sort of expensive. I wonder how many world wide only have an Internet cafe to use and submit sites? I'm sure they'd use auto submitters if they are paying per hour to use a computer and shitty Internet connection. Are there many more 'make money quick' sponsors now compared to say 2 years ago? Also, I think people in general view the Internet and Adult in particular as 'quick easy money'. It's not rocket science, but there is a lot of terminology to learn and effort in understanding what those terms mean. God knows there are enough webmaster boards and sites that can help anyone if they had an ounce of true interest. Last edited by Alphawolf; 2004-07-01 at 12:00 PM.. |

I have nothing against the industry. However, it is never a Dad's dream to see his 10 year old girl work in the porn industry, submitting free sites. Again, only a parent could understand. Telling me to "chill" and making out that I have somethign against adult webmasters is clearly an attempt to make me look bad. Well, Cleo, that's very unfair. I saw this thread. Thought I'd contribute. I wanted to make a point that if my daughter can build websites, then that means 100,000s can also make them (hence the industry problem). Not being a parent yourself, you made some quite aweful comments. The thing for you to do would simply have been to understood my point-of-view (pointed out by opti) and said "sorry". I'm also a little offended that you can speak to me in such an off-hand manner. I thought we were friends. Nevermind. |

1 of the reasons I think you guys are seeing in increase in cheaters is because the bigger sites are doing a better job of gettin rid of them or blocking them
I think as more sites move over to paid submits its gonna get a lot worse for the sites that dont charge |

That is where you and I are different kristian, I see nothing wrong with working in the porn industry. If I had a child I would have no problem with them working in this industry when they were old enough and this is what they wanted to do. Personally I think being able to set one's own hours and stay at home with family is a very good business to be in.
So let's not hijack this thread because my values are different then yours and just leave it as we have different views of life. I admit that the color of the sky is a bit different color where I live. Most of my friends have children and most of my friends are either same sex couples, trannies, strippers or sex workers so regular family values just don't fit very well. As far as going to paid submit is is something that I see coming and will just go with the flow after a few of the major lists do. |
