2 webmasters on same IP address?

I've got a buddy working out of my office while i teach him the ropes of the biz... so when we're submitting free sites they will appear to be comming from the same IP address.

I know that alot of linklist owners only accept one submission per day from each webmaster, and I was wondering if the IP address being the same would be a problem? I set him up with his own domain on my sever and put it on a seperate IP address, but because both of our submissions would show as comming from the same IP address I wasn't sure if this would sit well with link list owners.

Any help would be appretiated... thanks

To some it may appear to be deceptive that two different submitter names are coming from the same IP. On some peoples systems, it may just block the second submission because it is from the same IP. Just out of curiosity, whay would it show the same IP. Are you using something like DSL or Cable modem going through a router so you can have two connections?

Yeah, i've got a router... each machine has it's own internal IP, but all the computers still access the internet through the same external IP address.

It's quite simple. Some scripts block duplicate submits from the same IP and some do not. If it does there is no way around that for one person. You're screwed.

I have seen this question before - only option is get a second Internet connection - Like send $30 a month and get a cable modem to go along with your DSL - or deal with a dial-up and get net zero or something - slow but cheap -

StevO you may want to review the sig rules over here.
http://www.greenguysboard.com/rules.html

In answer to your question. Most scripts are IP based so multiple submits off of the same IP is going to cause problems for you.

I guess i'll just have to get a DSL modem to go along with my cable... oh well, it's only an extra $24/month or so.

He's using all of my referal codes so it'll probably make me money back in the end anyways.

This could get you banned as well I believe at some places. If a webmaster spots the same affiliate code on 2 sites, with two different names, etc they will definitely think you are cheating. You might want to wait and see if anyone else replies to this, and also read the link list rules.

My cable service provides additional external IP addresses for about 5 bucks a month. You can get up to 3. You may want to check with yours before you pony up the extra bucks for DSL.

stev0: As a side note to all of this, make sure that your "buddy" is not using similar site layouts and sponsors to you. Sharp eyes might find that little tidbit and get you on blacklists for multisubmitting.

If your buddy wants to make it in the business, make him pay for a new connection, and he can use it exclusively.

:-)

Well, the affiliate codes would all be different... he would be using his own codes under his name.

He knows basic html and photoshop stuff so he makes his own unique designs... and I'm promoting my own sites alot lately instead of promoting sponsors, so i dont think us using the same sponsors would be much of a problem.

But I think i'll get him try try TGP submitting or something else first, I don't submit TGP galleries much these days so that would probably have less conflicts.

I already noticed one problem when I forgot to remove all of his info in advanced submitter and ended up submitting a site to one or two linklists under his name. A small mistake like this could get me blacklisted and im not willing to take that risk.

Ummm - if you are teaching him to use AS as a tool then you are definitely taking him down the wrong path as most of us can detect that - and will not only refuse submits but pass that info along to other LL owners

I'm not talking about using it to auto submit.... I do manual submissions, verify all of the info, and I've always submitted quality sites that i've put alot of work into building... (and you've listed most of them).

Why? is advanced submitter looked down on now...? it seems like a good tool for me.

One of the things my script looks at are the same IP's in a 24 hours peropd, so odds are we'd catch it & automatically delete the 2nd one.
