You really should have a dedicated server box if you are going to be submitting to places with this much traffic. Dedicated servers are really cheap now so there really isn't any reason not to have your own server now.

Hey Cleo... It is a dedicated 20 MBPS line mate. The only hitch maybe that this being my secondary server (just for MGPs actually) I tried to save a few bucks by going Celeron instead of Pentium or Xeon... and today I am regretting it

That strange, I don't think I've ever pulled more then than 7mbps even with a listing on both at the same time but then I don't do movie galleries so I guess with movies this could be a problem.

They are both movie galleries and I do have other traffic that blasts in from yahoo and other TGP/MGPs (which actually does 5-6 Mbps without help from the two biggies). A+B and I'm in a shitter. The damned server ain't fast enough to handle all that and I have no idea what to do about it.
I just talked to the hosting guys and other than a 100mbit upgrade, they have nothing to propose (which is just way too expensive). If anyone has any ideas on how to improve server speed, do let me know. |

Movie galleries will put a strain on 20Mbs and WorldSex sends way more traffic to galleries in the past few months compared to before.
Good luck!! |

Thanks Ramster, I'm gonna need it. Btw, on my last listing at Worldsex, I actually had more than decent conversions... so I think not only the quantity but even quality has improved somewhat. Or maybe it was a one time thing.

The Hun just shut my site down for the day. Just moved to a new host that had a nice amount of bandwidth per month at a great price, only to find out yesterday that there is a daily limit of 11GB. Once exceded the whole site 404's for the rest of the day.
The hun listing aired shortly after i found out. I sent an email to the host to warn them of the huge traffic that was pending and they replied with the daily limit notice. Didn't have time to do anything about it.

Damn sorry Stever. That bloody sucks, specially with hun where even if you are lucky, you never get more than 7-8 listings a month.
CD34 I didn't even know a P3/800 could handle that much traffic! grzepa... man tell me where you host! I made an awful 5 sales from both galleries combined yesterday Makes it my worst ever for both hun and worldsex. On a seperate note, does anyone know Mark from Traffic Overdose? |

You kidding grzepa! 5 sales from hun and worldsex combined looks pretty pathetic to me. My last worst from hun was 7 sales..
Bref, i am guessing that you have pinkworld submit pass, right? Do you get a confirmation mail or something? If so how long does it take for the gallery to get reviewed? Thanks for your answer in advance |

yeah I bought a 3 months submit pass, they usually review within 2-3 days of the submission and you get an email if you're approved....

That means my galleries ain't getting listed on pinkworld.... damn! Something new to think about.
And I just realized hun has yet another one of my galleries listed... around 20th or something. And loads of other high traffic sites too, server is acting up again. Damn it. |

The true irony to that machine was that one of my tech guys was telling me the physical limitations of a P3/800 and the PCI bus and how a P3 was incapable of serving over 52mb/sec. He included all sorts of arguments to the contrary as to why it was impossible and that only in lab testing could a P3 ever exceed that.
Less than a week later, a client was hotlinked on some movies and hit 100mb/sec until we could find the source. Hotlinking movies is extremely difficult to track down because the log files for those sites usually are small compared to a normal gallery. At that time, his response was "well, yeah, 100mb/sec for an hour" -- the machine was still quite responsive. About two weeks after that, the graph above was saved. The client said, we're doing some promotion work on a site, I don't think it'll have much impact. We had another machine ready to throw at it but the client said, after today, it'll be fine. That machine has run sustained around 70mb/sec several times since -- but had usually hovered around 35-40mb/sec and is around 45mb/sec now. We've offered to upgrade, and are told, please don't change what works.

Grzepa
That don't cheer me up man. I'd rather you have 5 sales from that man and me too! Today's post on the hun, despite the server issues as so far yeilded 5 trials on NA site My Friends Hot Mom (let's see how many convert though). Cd34, it is truly amazing. I for one, didn't really think 800 would cut it for 100 MBPS or 70MBPS. Tell me, how can I find out what is the port speed of my box other than relying on the host info? I know I paid for a 100 mbit port upgrade, but i'd love to be able to verify it. |
