str8 webmasters, gay sites

Hey guys, I had a question for straight webmasters that I would like to ask. From what I read on this board, most of you put quite a bit of effort into your sites, so I wanted to ask you. What makes a str8 webmaster pick gay sites to promote? Based off the str8 programs you promote and the 2-5 cookie cutter mega sites that they tell you “convert like hot cakes”?

One would think that looking around a little for a nice, under exposed site not many are promoting would increase your sales over all and cause your over all income increase.

Anyone care to give me their insight?

I promote pretty much everything that's legal, regardless of it being straight, gay, fetish or whatever - not that I'm into a lot of it with my personal porn preferences, but there's market for it & we all have access to surfers, so why not offer them a bit of everything

actually I will say that from my experiences with straight webmasters promoting gay sites, its all about the $$$. If your site converts well for them, they will promote it.

To be honest, I picked my first gay sponsor because they were nice to me. I know that sounds lame, but I had questions about promoting gay sites at a show and no one would really bother to talk to me. SO I walked up to about 3 booth's and felt like I was blown off, then I arrived at the PrideBucks.com booth and they were very nice and talked to me like a human vs a stupid breeder.

Thanks GreenGuy. Nice advice to give. Out of all our webmasters that we have now, i would bet that about 35% are straight and make pretty good money at it.

Just goes to show ya, don't have to like it to make it sell.

Im a str8 webmaster and do some gay sites and stuff, ive found that especially on avs gay sells better......

I do think that some gay companies ignore the straight webmaster traffic and it is just dumb if you ask me. While we cater our sites to gay men, our affiliate program is aimed at making money, regardless of orientation. I know a good many straight webmasters that can put together a helluva gay site. On the flip side, I've seen some awful stuff come from gay webmasters. It's all about finding a match between traffic and product and shouldn't have anything to do with sexual orientation. This is a business.

well said Rainey. In the past programs i worked with, some of our best webmasters where str8, and made great sales. That's one of the reasons for us (mesmerotic) coming over to greenguy and a few other straight boards. To try to work with str8 webmasters. ;o)
