My Wife is Ill
I wasn't going to mention this until I absolutely had to. But, since I have not been around much and it is going to be less and less, you guys need to know why. I have already told a few people but here it is without all the details.
My wife was diagnosed a couple of weeks ago with cancer. It appears that we are going to the National Cancer Institute in the very near future for a clinical trial. The upside of going there is that as far as I know, there is not a better place to be treated. And the Doctor/Patient ratio is about 1 to 1. The downside is we have to move there during treatment. We have no idea if we will be able to go there just for treatment and be able to come home or if we have to stay the entire time. Either way, I am going to be scarce. No matter what, I am bringing my laptop and my entire PC. There are certain things that I have to do no matter what is going on. Paying bills being one of them. As for my lovely wife, Victoria...if she didn't tell you she was sick, you would never know. She seems to have very few symptoms and feels fine. Mentally, it has been really hard for both of us. It all sucks but as she says..."that's life". |

Where there's a will, I want to be in it.

Wow Jim, that's a scary thing to go through, but it was a lot scarier not too many years ago. We've come a long way with cancer treatment. My mother and mother-in-law both went through it and are both doing fine now.
My best wishes to both of you and your family.

Nothing funnier than the ridiculous faces you people make mid-coitus

I agree with my pal Spiffy..we aren't there yet but we've come a long way. Clinical trials are good and if she's qualified they must think this is treatable.
Best of luck to you, Jim and Victoria. Are you going to Bethesda? *trying to remember where the NCI is*.. if so that's a hell of a commute. We will for sure be sending white healing light your way. |

Scary thing Jim, good luck. I went through the same thing with my mom about 5 years ago, but she is fine now.
Be positive, best wishes to your wife, you and your family, our prayers are with you. |

I agree with the others mentioning the inroads that have been made, and being in a clinical trial could well be a good sign.
All the best to you and your lady Jim...a positive outlook can definitely help a bunch too |

I'm truly sorry to hear that, Jim. The best thing you can do is what Mr.Yum said - keep a positive outlook and make sure she remains positive. Don't be optimistic. Be POSITIVE. Keep reminding her that she's going to conquer this thing.

Sorry to hear...for me it's always harder when a loved one is sick than it is when I am sick, expecially my wife. Lots of people are fighting off cancer these days, though, so there's lots of reason to be optimistic about the outcome.

Wishing you and your wife the best. Recent article I read stated that a positive outlook and laughter really helps. So bring a tv/dvd and watch a funny movie every day.

Jim its important for you and your wife to understand that cancer is not a death sentence. In 1985 I had lymphoma, cancer of the lymph nodes. 6 months of chemo and 4 months of radiation and it was gone. 22 years later I am still breathing. A positive attitude is very important to treatment.
