Screen capture???
Can someone tell me how to do a screen capture of my monitor when I have a site loaded on it and want to keep a picture of it? I run XP, and can't figure it out.

Press Ctrl & Print Scrn together, then open up your graphics program and use paste. That's how I do it.

I just press PRT SCR alone and it works. Then paste to graphics editing program.
You can usually use that to capture Movie screen shots too, but first you have to go to Display Properties and turn "video acceleration" to NONE.

Exactly - except I only press "Print Screen" Open fireworks > select "new" it automaticly knows what I want to do so it makes the document the same size as my screen resolution ( It's magic I fucking swear) > right click paste and it centers it perfectly (again magic)

Hah! Thanks!
Until today I never even bothered to try and press Print Scrn by itself. Makes you wonder what on earth I thought a button called Print Scrn would do on it's own. I feel like a dumb-ass now. Quote:
Photoshop does that magically for me. I always thought I was special, but it seems others have the magic too. |

umm.. I use that shit all the time! You're right I didn't know. But your question intrigued me so I was forced to take the required 5 seconds to google it. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SysRq

Interrupt 9? I used to have my own int 9 handler for games I worked on with my xt compatible machine.
I also once hooked up a button to my serial port and wrote a function to "listen" for the button press, then output the contents of the displayable video area to a file.. not recommended! lmao. But it's in the theme of this thread and it was pretty nifty, lol. I could capture screenshots when a game or program wouldnt allow any other keypresses.
