New Site... lots of questions
Hey guys,
So I just launched my new site(s) and I'm learning as I go. Definitely a newbie in the adult webmaster sect so any help would be greatly appreciated... I guess at this point in time i have one super huge question... Currently the site takes submissions of pictures from users... These pictures then are approved (by me right now) to be included on the site given that A. They dont have any obvious copyright watermarks on them and B. They aren't a duplicate of any other picture submitted to the site. My concern is, what if the picture submitted by the user is a copyrighted picture? I explicitly state in my FAQ that if anyone or any firm feels that an image on the site is copyrighted, or if an image is a picture of someone that someone doesn't want up there (amateur photos), that I would take the picture down and delete it immediately, no questions asked. I read this page which basically gave an example of what could happen to me in the case that a picture on the site is copyrighted. You get a letter saying that the images are copyrighted and asking you to remove them. I would immediately remove the images without any questions asked. Is that enough though? http://www.chillingeffects.org/dmca5...i?NoticeID=292 Here are my sites if you'd like to take a look and offer up any feedback. http://www.HotBodyBattles.com http://www.AssBattles.com http://www.MuffBattles.com http://www.TittyBattles.com http://www.StudBattles.com Next i'm going to be researching and learning as much as I can about promoting, marketing and monetizing. All areas I am super dumb on. Thanks guys |

looks like this is a real good answer to my exact question...
http://answers.yahoo.com/question/in...1143047AAxvALm But here's the next question... If my site were your site.. how would you go about monetizing it. Keep in mind that my site isn't a hardcore site... it's more just nude photos.. so having banner ads of people fucking is probably not a good fit... I'm thinking affiliation with dating sites maybe? |

A lot is trial and error, but amateur solo girls might work. If you allow toys and masturbation, there's plenty of sponsors you can promote in that niche, plus there's lots of Playboy type sites you can promote.
Check out some of the girlfriend sites....although these usually have some hardcore. Dating and cams for sure. btw, in IE, the link icon is not working on my end... Best of luck. |

Nice sites, although broken category link on front page of all of them would an issue to look into.
Since your sites are not hardcore you could look into programs such as adultfriendfinder.com or some of the cam girl affiliate programs for revenue and possible free content for your sites. To avoid copyright issues you can also look into purchasing some inexpensive non-hardcore images from content sellers, I have webmasters, cam girls and phone sex girls that buy this type of content from me for these types of sites. Feel free to take a look at http://www.dollarcontent.com Good Luck to you in your Adult Industry Adventure and it will be just that "An Adventure" |

Hmm... yea... that's a weird error cause in firefox it totally looks ok. I'll check the code and see if i can fix it. Thanks for checking it out for me and noticing that :-)
Ok.. Sorry for my ignorance but basically how does the affiliate programs with these places work? You sign up, get a banner generation link/code snippet from them, put it on your site somewhere and if people click through to it (pay per click) you get some $? and if people sign up for the site, you get even more $? Is that the basic idea? In general what do you guys think of the site idea... I figured people love galleries of pictures... and I also thought that it would be great to have a place where you could go and only look at pussy if that was your thing.. or only look at tits if you're a tit man. And then I figured that it might be fun to compare pictures and vote which one was better to bring a different fun aspect to gallery viewing... Some people I have talked to said that banners and affiliate programs hardly pay anything and it's hardly worth it. Then I see that just about every site out there is doing it. Some have said that I could charge the users to post their own pictures, or charge them to vote. But I dont *want* to charge the user anything because the whole point of this whole thing is to get people using it... Is there any ways to monetize a site other than banner adverts? I see some places have stores where they sell movies in that specific genre ... but do people really buy porn movies these days? Where's all the money being made in porn? It's paid memberships isn't it....? |

If you don't have a license to use the content on your site, you can't use it - it's that simple. Otherwise, you're breaking the law & you will lose every law suit filed against you.

I hear ya greenie...
I'm working on a deal with a guy who apparently has terrabytes worth of content (or access to) who wants to work a deal with me because he likes the idea behind my site. So we'll see how that goes.... I doubt i'll have problems with any of the pics i have on there because i've searched for most of them on tineye.com and there are 10's of sites that also have the pic posted up on blogs and whatnot.. Plus... they're user submitted... Not saying that I wouldn't lose the court battle.. i would.. no doubt... but firstly, i'm still only at like 30 hits a day... maybe a little more on each site so i doubt anyone gives a F... and what i'm seeing through researching the subject is most the time the copyright holders (who are anal enough to search for every single picture they've ever produced on the internet through a service like tineye, and then put together a cease and desist letter) just tell you to remove it within 48 hours.. which i would absolutely do. I'm not saying it's legal.. i'm just saying I think right now i'm ok... How would anyone that allows user uploads protect against copyrighted uploads?.. they cant.. it's too much work... it's not like the copyright owner is embedded in the meta information of the images... is it? |

Prepare to have your hosting shut down just as soon as the DMCAs start coming in and it only takes one to be shut down.
