What do you like to see in members area of paysite?

If you were to join a paysite , what is it that you would like to see .
What would keep you stay on as a member of the site . What would make you cancel ?

I ask this because lately I have been going into many members area of various paysites and nothing really appeals to me .
I personally don't like all the filler crap that comes with many of the sites like all the nasty plugs/feeds .
Perhaps cause i am a girl or maybe i'm not into porn that much .
I'm interested to know what excites you not the surfer but YOU ? Tons of hardcore movies ? High quality pics ?

Let me first say that I'm far from your average surfer. I can count the number of times I've taken my CC out of my wallet and joined a site on one hand, so take my opinion with the proper number of grains of salt.

For me, two things make me remain a member of a site beyond the initial purchase. One, regular updates of the type of content that made me join in the first place. And two developing a raport with the girl(s) on the site through live chat, shows, journals, etc.

First off - let me tell ya that over the last two months I have joined well over 30 different sponsors paysites to see exactly what I was pushing - and was not pleased in at least half the cases.

On some the inside was so poorly done it looked like someone had paid their neighbor to design the inside - literally links all over the place with no design whatsoever - Im pulling them as a sponsor which is a shame because I know that GG is under me and I get a nice check from them every month - just cant do that to my surfers though

The next thing I saw was that in at least 15 of the paysites, they all used the exact same feeds, same plugins and didnt offer much in the way of original stuff - not that it was surprising with the cookie cutter approach of most sponsors - its no wonder they dont retain members and have to resort to upsells in the members area to break even.

Of the other half I visited, they were much smaller paysites of the targetted niche type run by single site WMs, not the multisite conglamerates - and most were very well done with obvious clean updates being very frequent and looked like they will retain the surfer - those will be my push as far as sales in the future.

The only other thing that stuck out in my mind was how much the sites have downsized over the last 10 years - I remember paysites having huge amounts of "different" content, wheras now its all the same and relies way too much on feeds of reality junk instead of the intended niche of the paysite

Content based on what the tour promotes. Regular updates, at least a few times a week if not 5-6 times a week. Clean navigation. And movies are VERY important.

all the bigger programs have really bad sites
it seems like the bigger the program the worst the members area is

the thing about this is we tell our surfers that these sites are good and ... they are shit

to give credit where credit is due
I was inside New Sensations and was very impresssed by the members area
I would bet their retension is very good

I also hear the chop smiths members area are really nice to

I always apply the simple theory: It's easier to retain a current member than it is to find a new one. Many paysites make the mistake of buying a high buck designer tour, then slapping together a crap member's area page that really doesn't do anything.

- have what your tour promises, and have more of it than people expect.
- if your site is niche, more than 50% of the total content should be on niche.
- you should update regularly, and make a big thing out of the updates.
- FEATURES add value. Have a daily gallery, whatever... cycle stuff around. If you average member stays 3 months, recycle some of the older content into being new again every 6 months as needed... or "flash from the past" or "hot past features" or something...

You really should work with a good designer to build the member's area so that the tone and look overall of the member's area is in keeping with what was on the tour. Think of it as branding, and think of it as customer retention. Make the member feel welcome, give them a reason to stay, give them new stuff they haven't seen, guide them to areas that they may not have visited. Show them how deep and how wide your site really is, highlight the edges, the corners, and those seldom visited areas. Keep them entertained enough to want to stay one more month. With member retention at an all time low in the industry, I think more money should be spent here instead of adding multiple tours and whatnot that lead to the same crappy member's areas.

about a year and a half ago we did some site reviews and had access to some of the bigger programs, one of which was a sponsor i was pushing heaviily.

Imagine having an ebony site that promises on its tour 200K + pictures and only 5K are ebony and the rest are white girls posing?? one of them had the last update was in octmember. LMAO.. i was like WTF..

and Alex hit it when he said they spend big bucks on the tour but the member section is just lame.

We kicked them all to the curb, revamped our business plan, promote only sites that allow us access for at least 24 hours and really push the indie sites, like KatVixen because they are unique, packed with content, update regularly and have great retention and rebill rates, easy to access, and terrific to work with.

As chop's conversion to full ratio drops this week as every webmaster in the world signs up to see.

On the other hand. If you're paid $30 or $35 when someone signs up, do you REALLY care whether that surfer is getting the best site ever? I mean, someone pays like $1.. $2.. or $5 for a trial and as a webmaster you get paid $30, no risk, no questions asked.

Yes, for a revshare program retention is very important to make your money. But, do you not think that programs are still doing rebills and making their money, even if the site sucks? and if so, what is the real motivation to have amazing (read: expensive!!) members areas?

This business is about making money, and if anyone has a moral/ethical problem because they think their surfer isnt getting the best value then maybe internet porn isnt the business for you.

Eh, I think this is bullshit. Treat people how you want to be treated. Sounds to me like I'd never want to do biz with you.

Fair enough. From my perspective however, the business relationship between webmaster and sponsor is for the sponsor to provide the following:

1. sites that convert well
2. decent, on-time payouts
3. reliably hosted sites and processing
4. a contact who is responsible for the webmaster and able to answer their questions and offer assistance in a timely and effective manner

Once the surfer has signed up for the site, the sponsor is responsible for 'taking care' of the now member, the webmaster's stake in the deal is finished (Im speaking PPS of course, and not revshare). Also, what can you buy for a buck these days? A pack of gum maybe? A small cup of coffee? If I were to pay a dollar for something, my expectations would be inline with the fact that it only cost me a dollar

and if I send a surfer to a site and get paid and have a decent webmaster contact, and the surfer gets screwed over royally, how likely will he be to come back to my site to have a go at another one of my sponsors?

If any surfer gets 'screwed over royally' then there's a problem. Unfortunately, this assessment is subjective to the individual surfer and/or webmaster. The reality, however, is self-evident. Any programs that were truly screwing people over wouldnt be in business.

You know I read the exchange between DollarManSteve, cd34 and jaYMan. I never actually thought I would see something like this posted on this board. I am only into this nutty biz 2 months, but I have a pile of other bizness experience I carry with me. I just can't believe I read what I read.
Where the hell is that useless warrior guy? He must have some thing eloquent to say about their exchange. I want a Useless™ opinion.
At the risk of being ostracized, alienated, flamed, roasted and toasted, I post this anyway. (And i haven't even given you my opinion yet, I'm waiting for useless.)
