The quest for impossible xmas gifts
I'm sure that some of you can relate to trying to locate the ideal gift for someone, or something from their wishlist, and coming up empty. Either it's a rare item, or in some cases, it simply does not exist. I consider myself pretty resourceful, but I'm coming up empty handed on a couple of things, and am hoping that somebody out there has seen what I am looking for.
1- A digital clock that displays in Roman numerals. The only one I've found so far is at http://www.sonic.net/chronart/romdig.html but I'd like to know if any others exist, perhaps without the mahogany case. 2- The same annoying person wants a digital wall calendar that he can keep on the fridge, but can synch with Outlook on his pc, either manually or via wireless. Sounds like a good idea, but I cannot find evidence that one exists, other than using a palm pilot. Does anybody out there have ideas or suggestions? |

as for the first, how do they handle 0?
As for the second, 3com used to have Audrey, http://www.digibarn.com/collections/...rey/index.html frequently listed on ebay for $35 or so. Quite an audrey hacking community too.

If there is nobody out there, that's a lot of real estate going to waste!

Thanks everyone!
Sparky- is it possible to add a wireless card to these things or would he have to string 80 feet ot ethernet cable from the kitchen to the pc? Other than networking the machines, can you suggest a way to synch it with his outlook? I want to look like I know what I'm doing when I set it up Digifan, thank you for going to the trouble of digging up those links for me! Tickler- ThinkGeek is one of my favourite web destinations. You might try iWoot.com too. Terry- thanks for the good wishes Any more? |

I believe it uses a USB card for the Ethernet. I didn't see any mentions on the audrey hacking wiki or the other main audrey site. And who doesn't love cat5 cable strung through the house? what kind of a geek is he?
http://www.audreyhacking.com/wiki/index.php/Main_Page http://www.3rdmoon.com/crusso/audrey/ more specifically http://www.3rdmoon.com/crusso/audrey...h/ethernet.htm Perhaps you should include a gopher pole and fish tape so he can properly route the ethernet cable.

My pleasure, Em... I too have one on the wall from Ikea, a round one and cheap but does its job... and I know it won't do for a weird & funny Xmas present
