booking flights online
I had a flight reserved through Travelocity at a great rate. They never sent my e-tickets. After discovering this I was denied the original rate, and I was given the run around to the point that I will never deal with them again. After making rental car and hotel reservations and commitments to the dates I reserved. Now, I've found out that this same flight would be outrageous to book today.
So, my question is: what online travel service do you use? I need to purchase tickets somewhere. My next stop is to contact the airline directly to see what I can do, but I'd still like other options as I plan to travel back and forth to the west coast several times a year. Any suggestions? |

I've used Expedia and am very happy with them.
With etickets there is nothing sent to you, you just show ID at the airport/car rental/hotel. |

Thanks Cleo. I was just beginning my search at Expedia now.
About the e-tickets, that's all I've ever had to do in the past. But this time, I was sent the itinerary email, and should have read more carefully. I assumed this was all I needed, but after looking closer I saw this letter stated that they were still processing the tickets and would follow up with a confirmation e-ticket, which I never received. So, I went to their site, looked up My Trips and this flight was listed as not booked/canceled/declined. Ugh, I feel myself starting to rant just thinking about it! Ah well, I should have been more attentive from the get go. Lesson learned. |

I use Travelocity to look up to see who has the best flights and best rates.
Then I go to that airline’s website and get the very same flight for $25 less in most cases. The bonus is, I can cancel or postpone the trip and not lose out on the air miles. The main bad thing with all these discount sites is they are non refundable and you never deal with the airline so if something happens you are SOL. |

I have a tendency to go from airline to airline, seeing as there's only so many that fly out of Buffalo & I like direct or, at worst, 1 stop flights.
I just go to the local airport site, see who has direct flights & the go from there |

WHO IS FONZY!?! Don't they teach you anything at school?

I buy all my tickets online directly from the airlines themselves and I fly 10 - 12 times a year. Once you figure out what airlines fly from your destination to the destinations you usually travel too, it becomes really easy and quick to do. Plus this way, if you start using one airline more then the others, if you deal with them directly you can cash in on there frequent flyer program.

Thanks to each of you.
I ended up taking all the good advice. I scanned Expedia and Cheaptickets until I found the flight I wanted, then went directly through the airline to book it. It was about twice as much as the first one I thought I had, but still much better than anything else out there. I had to bump everything up one day, which is only a minor inconvenience with changing the rental car and hotel reservations. What was crazy was during my price shopping today I was watching the prices jump as I surfed each page...I'd select a flight and before I could get through the purchase process, it would sell out....#@&% Spring Break! All worked out in the end though, thanks again! |

I buy all my airline tickets from the Airlines themselves, once in a blue moon I will try Hotwire.com or one of those.
Sorry you had such a crap experience. |

I used to use Travelocity or Expedia, but I live at a huge Delta hub...so I save $20+ buying directly from them for the same damn seat.
I got a couple damn good hotel deals from Orbitz, though. |
