Thinking about Text Link Advertising, or even Banner space. Where should I start?

Hey all,

So I have bunch of websites.. They're fun, enjoyable and people seem to like them.

NOW... so far... my traffic is around 10k unique hits per page (with some doing better than others).. I have 5 pages...

I have over 1000 members of the page at this point.. all free members... every site shares the same member database.

I need to monetize the site because it's costing me $150 a month to host it... not to mention all the other costs that go into creating a website that i'm sure you've all experienced.

I've tried banners... getting clicks but no conversions.. Basically the banners are for the photography studios that i've paired up and affiliated with in order to use their images..

I was thinking a next step might be to sell advertising space either in banner form.. or in text link form. I've already had two people email me who "represent a porn industry leader" asking what my price would be for a text link for a year. I talked to them briefly, and then never heard back.

If i wanted to get into selling text links, advertising space, etc.. What would be a good first step? Should I get a broker to do it for me for a commission? Are there websites I can become apart of where other websites go to buy advertising space? They key here is that I want to get away from the CPA stuff because it's just not working for me, I guess i just dont have the level of traffic that actually makes it work.

You can vote without registering, so what is the incentive to register?

Do you email your 1,000 members and entice them to join sponsors or purchase something?

What are you selling to your members when they log in?

All very good questions... and these are the types of things I have to think about and then do in order to monetize. I'm very green when it comes to running a site like this.. this is my first attempt so i'm learning the ropes and what to do as I go along.

I figured the first step was to get a functional site together that is fun to be on. I always think it needs work, but i think it's decent at this point.

Now i need to figure out my monetization strategy.

You can vote without registering, yes... i wanted to leave that the way it was, though i was thinking about only allowing 10 votes as a guest, and then issuing a popup that the user must clear to go on... But haven't implemented that code yet.

If you're not registered, you cant A. upload pics of your own to the battles or B. look at the galleries.

I dont email my members enticing them to join sponsors as of yet, as I need to get a good email management tool can manage people who want to opt out of getting advertisement emails. That's on the list.

As of right now.. i'm not selling anything to members when they log in... the only thing they get by logging in is access to the galleries and ability to upload.

That's kind of why i'm turning to you guys (the experts) in an attempt to maybe get some ideas .. and get something real going.. I need help.. and i'm not ashamed to ask for it.

ya know what.. i should just hire someone on a commission basis who's monetized a porn site before and let them monetize my site like crazy and I'll just work on the content. Then I give him a percentage of what he/she brings in for money from the stuff they do.

Do people do that sort of thing? do you think anyone would be interested? I need someone experienced in this ... i dont have time to learn all those ropes too.
