How important is it for pages to validate?

I've got my pages to validate except for these few items that I don't want to fix.

Question is does it really matter?

I used to care about that stuff, until I fixed up 1 page PERFECTLY for one place, then checked it at another & found about 20 errors based on their validation process

It's built into Dreamweaver. It sends your pages code to the W3C Validation service and reports back.

If nothing else it has found all my coding errors in my pages.
