Sponsor Pop-Ups
I thought the "no pop-up" rule applied only to the free sites that are submitted to link lists. Do many link lists check the sponsor's tour and decline a site because the tour has pop-ups? I would think that if the free site is clean, what happens when a surfer leaves the site is of no concern. Comments?

Some LLs are more leniant than others, but generally I've found that pop-ups on the tour aren't a good idea.
I think I recall reading here that tour pop-ups reflect badly on the LL that listed the freesite and stop surfers coming back, but I can't find the thread in question. I try and use non-pop-up tours every time if possible. |

It's never been an issue for me until a link list mentioned it recently. The console free tours usually pay less but if it's a problem I'll make sure to use the console free tours when it's an option.

Screw you, guys. I'm going home.

I remember only two LL that don't allow pop-up tours but most will decline sites if your sponsor's site blocks browsers back button (even if tour is pop-up free)

Yea, stealing the back button is a sure way to piss off a reviewer. That said, I think 'most' reviewers are okay with a reasonable pop up. Though I personally find them annoying as hell, I don't decline sites for a single popup on the sponsor tour. However, if it's one of those really abusive chains of popups...that'll get your sites declined left and right. |

Though I've never had much luck with making sales on pop-ups myself anyway. Maybe they worked way back when, before everyone got pop-up blockers...

I have a no excessive pop-up rule, test your links out and if they are brutal and get by your popup blockers and one full screen after another then fuck that...
what surfer would want to close all that down and find there way back to the LL they were on and surf more free sites and find more of those kind of consoles - not me Last edited by plateman; 2006-10-07 at 04:08 PM.. |
