Bank recommendations?

My current bank is giving me some grief about removing a couple of fraudulent debit card transactions (Fling.com are scamming motherfuckers!).

They also have a $24 fee for incoming ACH transfers.

So... I'm looking to change banks.

• I use my debit card for most things and write very few checks.
• I rarely make cash withdrawls at ATM's.
• I need to be able to transfer funds between checking, savings, etc. online.
• Fees for ACH deposits must be small or zero.

Thanks

If there is a Guaranty Bank in your area you might want to take a look at them. I don't know if there is a fee for the ACH deposits, but like you, I rarely write a check and my biz checking is free.

WTF? For direct deposit they charge? I've never heard of that.....I'm not big on monopolies, but Bank of America does well with us. And with them being just about everywhere, it helps if you need an ATM

They do not charge for direct deposit/ACHing. But if the ACH are wires, they do charge $10 for incoming but if you get a lot of them, the business suite is like $30 a month and then there is no charges for the incoming wires.

I do nearly everything on line with them....we have total of 4 personal/KV accounts with them and another huge account for a company I work for.

I even have it set up where I can order wires by phone from the account.

I'm with a local bank now, but I used to be with Citibank & I think they meet your requirements (I switched because a different local bank bought up all the Citibank's in my area & The Bitch hates the bank that did the buying)

No, not a direct deposit from an employer. That would be free, but any other incoming ACH such as a transfer from ePassporte, PayPal or direct from a sponsor costs me $24 per.

I get most of my sponsor payments via checks in the mail, but there are a few sponsors I promote whose checks are not through US Banks. The exact same problem non-US webmasters have with depositing US checks, just on a smaller scale. I use ePass for those, but the funds accumulate far faster than I use them. Plus I prefer using my debit or a credit card for online purchases, so I have a hard copy record in my monthly statement, for tax purposes.

There's a B of A less than a mile and half from the house. I'll drop in and have a chat with them next time I'm out doing errands.

I just checked their web site for branch locations. The closest is about 5 miles away in a direction I don't go to often.

It's pretty clear after reading through some of those sites that there's an established pattern to the fraudulent transactions. The source almost certainly has insider access to billing info somewhere.

Pretty tough for GPNETHELP (aka Fling) not to at least be aware of it, if not directly involved. |badafro|

With my one account, they don't charge when we transfer funds from Epass....but that is the bigger account. But we do not get fees when we transfer from Paypal to any of our other accounts.

Yeah i was reading through a couple myself, there's no way i want to send surfers somewhere they'll get screwed.

I don't know about anyone else but fling don't convert anyway, or maybe they do and the fraud goes a bit further.

Toby, I recommend going to a credit union in your area. Fees at credit unions are minimal because they are run by the community. There usually offer everything a bank does too. Good luck! I know my credit union does not charge for incoming ACH.

Credit Unions are great, but there is usually some sort of employer affiliation required to open and account. I have no such affiliations.

I'm with a small local bank - and love their service - everyone in the bank knows me - either for tipis or for porn.

My dad always told me that a personal relationship with your banker is one of the most important business practices that you can develop. It's paid off many times. I'll never forget the time I overdrew my account by $40,000 (all I'll say is it had to do with a woman) - and my bank called me and covered all the checks. They did it because they know me as a person - not just an account number.

I've used credit unions for personal accounts most of my adult life but few are setup to handle business accounts.

I have to agree with the earlier poster who suggested Bank of America. NO Charge for incoming ACH, direct deposits etc only wires. I have used them for quite a while and never really have had any problems They are very convenient and affordable imho
