Warning to anyone about to start using Vista
http://www.adobeforums.com/webx/.3bc3b755/58
OK I decided to go and buy a new PC two weeks ago. for the past two year I have had an external hard drive where I shove work and software downloads. Knowing that one day I would change PCs I thought this would be the easiest way for me to move everything over and also I would have a constant back up. Anyway I buy a kick arse HP with Vista installed. Basically any Adobe CS3 products will not install on Vista. Read the thread above from Adobe. There are several ways to get it to work but none of them worked for me. So I have a kick arse HP with Vista now sat there doing nothing. I personally think that microsoft have done this on purpose as when I contacted them they didnt offer me any way to solve the problem but suggested that I switch over to their 'superior' software http://www.microsoft.com/expression/.../overview.aspx I found it quite a coincidence that all adobe products which were market leaders and rivals to the new Microsoft software didnt work when most software that Microsoft does not make a similar version of does instantly install. If you are going to start using Vista make sure you have early copies of the software that you can install as I know if it is a few years old it will install on Vista. |

When I bought a new PC back in July I deliberately ordered it with XP Pro rather than Vista due to the various issues I'd read about in regards to software compatibility.
