Hint Hint for free site submitters, blacklist issue
it would be wise to check ones in awhile
http://bl.usefulscripts.com/ if your domain or email is listed there, alot of submitters dont have a cleu that maybe one or more of their domains is blacklisted. Now why i am saying this: if you dont know you are blacklisted and also dont know the reason why, you will keep making the same mistake over and over again, most of your submitting will be waisted time. Wouldnt it be better to fix the mistake and get listed everywhere? Just My 2cents |

This very situation happened to me. Got blacklisted, didn't know, kept submitting, till finally figured it out. It doesn't take much to get on the ole blacklist these days. |

In fact,
I've made it again! Funny thing is, the domain that is blacklisted, I haven't even built on since it was removed from the blacklist the first time. Very strange. Anyone know how this could be? |

Thank you for posting this.
I have a question though...which may seem silly. Why not inform a person they got blacklisted? A lot of people, like myself, might make an innocent mistake of thinking a 755 pixel table acceptable to fit 800 x 600. Personally I didn't think that deserved a blacklist and secondly I wouldn't have realized it if stuveltje hadn't posted this link. I'm not saying its any big loss to link lists that I got blacklisted, but I am new, I am learning the ropes, and once I do learn the ropes I'll be a solid submitter that will follow all the rules and never break them. Also if you submit your webpage to other link lists and get accepted it generally reaffirms you're "Making the page right" and makes you even less likely to think you got blacklisted elsewhere. I'm not sure how hard it would be to add some feature that informs someone they've been added to a blacklist, but it would be nice and also helpful to new adult webmasters. |

Wheither you think you can or you think you can't, Your right.

One thing I see way too often, so many submitters, even if you do try e-mailing them and telling them why their site is declined, they never get it or read it. I am guessing many just let their e-mail go to a black hole, this happens VERY often. And of course the next day they submit the same stuff.

I personally dont blacklist people that easy, maybe I am being too nice. But somes times, some days when you wade through tons of crap, you just want to delete then all... I really dont understand how so many people keep building and submitting sites, thats dont or wont get listed, just does'nt make sense to me. Seems like such a waste. ronnie |

The thing is, I've learned more from rejection letters then I've learned from any other area. I submit mostly to TGP's, been doing that since the start, when I first started I was submitting using content from a sponsor that was overused. Since I had JUST entered the business I didn't know which sponsors were hated and overused. Well, luckily / happily, one tgp wrote back in the best kind of form letter imaginable. "overused content" and I scratched my head and the lightbulb flickered on. So I changed sponsors, I bought my content as well, and started building pages again.
One sponsor I tried I didn't realize they popped exit consoles from hell. Well, the webmaster at Captainporn.net was kind enough to drop an email, probably form mail, to say that the sponsor was like that. Well, another lesson given and I of course took it seriously and dropped the sponsor. Well, I look at my stats everynight, lol, trust me I know where every hit is coming from...when I see 8 or 10 other LL's accepting my pages as Kosher and all having the same rules basically...it doesn't exactly ring the alarms that I've done something wrong elsewhere. All it does do is lull me into that cozy false sense of security Seriously though a generic rejection email would really be appreciated by a noob webmaster. I know most of you guys have been doing this for awhile now and maybe take it for granted that people should just know what to do...but throwing someone on a blacklist because they used a 755 pixel table instead of a 750 pixel table seems harsh. Also troubling from the fact that one of the 755 pixel table pages were accept in the past. This blacklist is shared by more then one site? If this were just a blacklist for one LinkList...well I probably just wouldn't submit to that 1 list and move on...but since it is shared and blacklisting will effect a person well beyond this 1 site...so it would be nice if a person is notified, even if its a generic email that says "Fucktard your blacklisted"...at least it would be something. *Mr. Blue scurries back to the land of TGP's* |

Hi everyone. I want to say that I do agree to a point. I have been in this biz for a little over 3 years. Just now starting to build free sites. I read and read and read until my eyeballs are falling out. If you read these boards and all the free site builder tutorials out there, you shouldnt really make any mistakes. Well ok maybe 1.

Today marks my 2nd month anniversary in the business, lol, I'll be seriously surprised if I'm making any mistakes by the end of my 3rd month...because I do put in 8 hours a day after working a full 9 hour shift. Trust me, I want to learn, I don't want to be nuisance...who would?
With that said...new people come in everyday...I'm not saying they should have their hand held, but small things like rejection letters or at least notification regarding blacklisting would really be helpful to them. |

Thanks for the heads up about this thread Jel. It seems that i have got myself blacklisted, for using or rather over using templates.
I've been doing this a few years too, and also run a link list and so i know how irritating it is to get sites that break the rules submitted everyday. Going through submissions is pretty dull at the best of times, but if i don't like a site i reject it, occasionally i put a comment in the return email to say why. I don't blacklist people unless they really break the rules. I also agree that it would be nice to be told you're blacklisted and interesting to know who by. As for people reading the emails, i assume a lot are like me. I submit to 100 LL's, 5 sites per week and i come home to over 120 emails every day and scan through them pretty fast. My eyes will probably pick out comments from the background text but often 3 pertinent words can be hidden amongst a lot of the normal filler text and i'll miss it. this doesn't make me a bad person it just makes me a real busy person that has to do stuff quick to fit it in. The same with submitting. When you have a list of lots of sites to submit to and 1% of them might not like a particular site that day and the rest are fine with it. it is easier to submit to the whole lot and let them list or not at their discretion. I take the point about templates and i'll try to vary them a lot more, but a certain amount of design overlap is inevitable. I'm kind of like Picasso- just stuck in a Blue Period. Oh, well. off to the day job now. See you all later. Rayzor
