My dumb assed ISP

On Wed night about 8pm I noticed my connection slowing down and the network acting really weird. So I turn off all the computers, unplug the router and modem. Plug the modem back in, and it's still sending (without anything else on - the wtf moment )
Thursday morning I call tech support, we walk through whatever that I've already tried for 2 hours. Then they asked if I could go up to the retail center and get a new modem. NP - 3 cables and unplug the modem, 8 block drive, and later I'm there.
Get the new modem - (a different name brand one than before) - doesn't work. 20 mins on hold, then we get to run through the same damn things I've already done for an hour.
By the time I got off the phone it was passed 4 pm. NO techie available to come to my house until today.
(I was able to connect 1 computer through the modem - so I did get some work done - but the network was down)

Today - started off with just the 1 comp online, tech support arrives at about 11 am. I'm out coffee and patience at this point. He unplugs everything and says, let's start from scratch. -
"NP - makes sense to me"
He hooks everything up.
Hmm - seems to be a conflict here. And calls if for a "network" guy and leaves.

2:00 pm - I call my friend Ryan (who orginally set up my house) - offer him a 12 pack of Miller Lite to fix this.
2:15 pm - Ryan shows up - 2:17 I owe him a 12 pack

3:00 PM - The ISP "network" guy shows up - I just tell him it's fixed. I hope he had to drive 30 miles to hear that!

4:00 PM - I'm off the cabin - enough of this crap... only a few more good snowmobiling days left.

So yeah, I'm behind a bit - but most reviews are done on time.

That story sounds so familiar! What a pain in the ass first level (usually second and third level too) techs are

Glad you had a REAL geek on standby and he got ya fixed up Dare

Sounds like a damn fair price too
