No More Greenguy & Jim Poker...Here's Why
Let me start by giving everyone a brief refresher course on the history of these Poker Tournaments:
Jan 14 - Oprano Poker posts that they will be having Poker Tournaments on Thursdays: http://www.greenguysboard.com/board/...&threadid=3869 We let this spam slide because we are on good terms with Oprano Jan 21 - We are reminded of the next "free" Poker Tournament: http://www.greenguysboard.com/board/...&threadid=4049 We let this spam slide because we are on good terms with Oprano Jan 28 - Greenguy & Jim are invited to have a "free" weekly Poker Tournament for our board members: http://www.greenguysboard.com/board/...&threadid=4285 This is a very cool idea & we of course accept. Many Greenguy & Jim board members register an account with Choice Poker via Oprano's referral link. Feb 3 - 1st Greenguy & Jim Poker Tournament happens & about 40 non-board members show up because the password is public to everyone, regardless of if they are a board member or not. This does not sit will with Jim & me, thinking that if we were to give away any prizes, the tournament would have to be for board members only (we see no need to have a contest for non-board members) I do decide to give away a prize of a main page link for 1 week to the person that knocks me out of the tournament. Feb 10th - 2nd Poker Tournament happens, the person that knocks me out & wins the link on my main page sells it on GFY. Feb 17th - 3rd Poker Tournament happens & we adopt the policy of releasing the password for the tournament during the Radio Show. This fails as the password we were given was so easy to guess, that 30 people were registered for the tournament before the radio show went on the air. Feb 24th - 4th Poker Tournament happens, we have 40 or so people playing & most are board members. Jim & I are happy Mar 2nd - 5th Poker Tournament happens & many have trouble logging in due to some sort of glitch that made everyone verify their email address before they could participate in the tournament. Mar 7th - We are told that Choice Poker will now be moving to Adult Poker Tour & that everyone has to jump thru hoops & register with a new username, email address, etc. We are also told that there will now be a charge for having the "free" tournaments & that an email is on it's way to me with details. Mar 9th - Well, we got the email - to put it very mildly, we are quite pissed off. We've been asked to put up at least $1000 to continue to have our weekly Poker Tournament. With this $1000 also comes advertising on the Adult Poker Tour site & newsletter, which we have no fucking need for what-so-ever. Here's what pisses me off about all this: 1 - We were asked to have a free poker tournament & sent many people to the Choice Poker site without any referral codes that Jim & I would get credit for. 2 - The referral program for Adult Poker Tour is "coming soon" so now, if we were to continue to have these weekly tournaments, we would get no credit for referring people to the new poker site. 3 - To give away these tournaments for free for 6 weeks & then have the fucking balls to ask for money after we promoted it & sent what I have to assume are a few paying customers, is just plain WRONG! So, based on all this, there will not be a Greenguy & Jim Poker Tournament tonight nor will there ever be a tournament sponsored by us on Adult Poker Tour. Jim & I will be looking into some other online poker sites to see if we can have a nice free shits & giggles tournament each week - because to us this is all just shits & giggles. If any of you want to continue to play poker at either of these online sites, be my guest. But think about who you are doing business with the next time you log in. Sorry for such a long drawn out rant, but this shit sucks my left fucking nut! |

If they said it may cost a bit later on but for now it's free, then fine. But that's not the case. |

Oh! I haven't changed since high school and suddenly I am uncool
|
I understand you most other boards dropped the tourney aswell.
I think they over estimated what boards would pay for the tourneys. It was fun and I enjoyed playing with you all |

The biggest problem as I see it is, every other poker program pays you to send traffic to them. This program wants us to pay to send them traffic. Something is wrong with that line of thinking.

Jim & I will be emailing a few other poker sites to see if we can have weekly shits & giggles tournaments - probably a little to late to do anything for tonight, but we'll work on it

I wonder what is involved in running our own poker game, since its all for fun (and maybe prizes if needed). Seems a poker script would not be hard to find or have done. |

Internet! Is that thing still around?
|
Hey guys-
Check out pacific poker, I approached several poker rooms asking about running a private game for some friends and they were the most accomadating, even to the point they were going to throw some prizes in also. DangerDave- Choicepoker is a poor place to find good money games, try the bigger poker rooms like party poker, or even pacific poker. Just want to thank GG again for the link for winning last weeks tournament. |

You can't keep blaming yourself. Just blame yourself once, and move on
|
Wouldn't that be like you guys charging us to post here?

I use partypoker.com - it may be worth checking out for your Tournaments. Choicepoker is rubbish!
I wouldn't mind playing in any comps you have coming up - but the problem is the time zones for me - I think it is about 3AM here when you had yours after the radio show - maybe it is possable to have a couple of tournaments, one for us Euro webmasters too - if there are enough of us interested in the game - just a suggestion. Cheers Paul. |

Since ChoicePoker decided to charge boards, other poker programs have contacted us offering not only tournaments but even an affiliate account. (The way it should be)
So, don't worry guys, we will be playing poker again very soon. What ChoicePoker is doing is the same thing as if John at ExtremePaychecks charged people to send him traffic. |

Nickname
That is exactly what they are doing. The entire premise of sending traffic to a casino site is to have them play for free and then once they believe they are good enough, they will play for money. Then, the casino makes money. I have seen and talked to people from our tournaments that have been playing for real money. Any other casino would give us a percentage of that. ChoicePoker decides we should pay them instead. To charge someone to send them traffic is just ass backwards. |

Send them an invoice asking for your cut on the referrals you sent them. |
