Question Why are tech and tech work postings rare?

I don’t see many tech postings in the “Adult Help Wanted” forum. Considering how many people are looking for work I am wondering why? I am an experienced software developer with a background in web development including HTML, JavaScript, Perl, MySQL/databases and UNIX/Linux with some PHP, Java, and CSS.

I am interested in working in this industry for two basic reasons. I am somewhat homebound and I like the kind of community support I have seen here. Do people looking for programmers in this business look for resumes the same way as in any other business? If people don't typically use "Adult Help Wanted" to look for work in my area where might they best look?

I also don’t see many postings to the “Programming & Scripting” forum and wonder why.

To give some idea of my tech background I am including a short sample "japh" Perl script and links to two of my first attempts at free sites, neither of which attracts much traffic. I view my Perl/SQL/Linux skills as stronger than my front end skills. I am also writing this posting with more of any eye towards understanding the market than trying to advertise myself.

Code:
$ perl -w -Mstrict -e 'sub { print join(q/ /, map { $_[0]->{ $_ } } qw/J A P H/), $/ }->( {map { reverse /((.).*)/  } qw/Just Another Perl Hacker/})'

Thanks

PS I posted a similar message on another bulletin board site and apologize to anyone put through the drudgery of reading through both postings, but I didn’t seem to get an answer there and was hoping for one here.

I think why programmers don't get any response here is that most of the webmasters here are more of the mom and pop store. They do real well on their own without the cost of hiring anyone. I looked at your two free sites and see you diffidently have potential. When I started out I was terrible. But I listen to the people on this board, took the criticism and kept working at it. Now I feel I deliver a good product. I still have much to learn. My mentor here is MML. With out his help and advice I would have failed. So you are on what I world consider the best webmaster board around period. So with you skills in the back in. The front end should be a breeze and you will not have to work for someone else and you can make all the money. Just my thoughts.

First it's hard to judge right now because everything is slow... including the boards.

At least here, there are people who farm out work but farm it out to people they know or already work with or at least have worked with in the past.

The industry is transitory in nature and filled with flakes to boot so doing otherwise is a recipe for disaster.

If you want to build a business here the best way to do it is network, add relevant information to threads when your able and put a link to some examples of work you've done in your sig.

As you travel through the adult site building world if you build a script that helps your daily life or improve on a script that exists, build some cool WP plugins offer them up giving community discounts.

As people see your serious and not a drive by porn monger you'll build up trust and credibility and people will come to you when they have projects they think you could help on.

There are places were you can post your scripts for sale, and dedicated online job places like eLance

Thank you. Would anyone be willing to comment on any differences in approaching trying to make money in this business for someone with a more technical background including databases, programming languages, comm. etc?

I have a preliminary sig linking to an advertising page and would very much look forward to any commentary on the sig or the page or improving either.

I hope to get back to this thread in more detail next week some time.

I have been experimenting with free sites for a few years now with what seem to be meager results. I don't think that I would be good at creating the copy needed for good adult blogs. I was wondering whether there was a more technical route in this business than free sites. The answer so far seems to be to try posting on tech topics on these boards and wait and see.

In the meantime I am lucky if my free sites get 1 or 2 dozen visits a day combined. My Jaylene Rio pages including http://www.toosxxx4.com/jaylene-rio/busty/ were accepted by link-o-rama and penisbot, as well as other link lists, but traffic remains low. I think that the site has been up for about a year. Also if I do a "site: toosxxx4.com" search on google images the results come up empty. Any advice on these traffic issues would be much appreciated.

Thanks, fg
