When to say no more Mr. Nice Guy reviewer

When your at the bottom of the 'porn food chain' like me,sometimes you gotta take what you can get so when it comes to reviewing sites I'm usually a liberal guy and I usually let a lot of minor mistakes fly.lately though Ive been getting stuff thats just downright shameful and I'm tempted just go review Nazi on their asses.....In other words I want to review sites like MML & Greenie does...

Seriously though when do you say enough is enough already?I'm not the kind of guy that gets a kick out of rejecting sites infact I always find myself sitting there with the mouse cursor hovered over the reject button desperately thinking of a reason to let it slide.I tried things like sending out personal rejection emails with a invitation to this board so myself and others could help them but they don't care.

I mean some of the sites I review are so bad,it's almost comical.Stuff like a girl naked in gallery 1 and by the end of it she's fully dressed.I mean what is this..a bad Benny Hill skit?Come on.You know what really drives me crazy?When they build a beautiful looking site with great content and don't bother putting a title on the damn thing.

Anyhow I would like to hear how other 'small fries' such as myself handle reviews.Do you have standards?When do you finally put your foot down and say no more Mr. nice guy/gal reviewer?

Being free site builder and now a new LL owner, I will have to say be firm.. be fair.. set your standards and hold to them, proudly. I do know your site and sub there whenever possible. You follow most of the rules of the others, your site is clean, and it is a pleasure to visit. Don't allow the unwashed masses to destroy what you have worked so hard building. Don't allow your name to be one of those, "I will take anything" lists unless that is really what you wish to be.

I have been very lucky in that the same crowd that has been working with me on my site building skills have also been my first submitters. I state right out front that I respect the current LOR standards, and I do have the right to refuse a site for any reason at all. If I got sites like the ones you describe, I would have no problem rejecting them firmly. Keep it up, and I can ban, blacklist, or otherwise bury yer bones.

If you don't try to teach the noobs what you expect, they will try to send that same crap over to LOR or Tommy's or other LLs and then never understand why you don't accept their sites. If they don't care to learn, we do have places for them. Just don't relax your rules on their part! If they can't build a site that respects your standards, do you really want to reward them by encouraging them with your traffic?

I like to think that my linklist represents freesites that maintain my standards. I have approved many a sites that i really didnt feel up to my standards. To be honest, It bothers me. I now reject anything i dont like. Ive also lost more than half my submitters, but the ones i have now know how to make very nice sites. My linklist may run off of a handful of submitters now (mostly from ggj) But im happy with it.
How much can you whore yourself out before it bothers you. And it will bother you if it doesnt already.

From the few years I have been reviewing, If the site is not up to standards, decline. If they keep submitting the same shit, ban them. That will get their attention. You will get a few that want to learn from their mistakes. Help them if you can. Then you will get idiots that will tell you that exact same free site has been approved at 150 link lists already even tho they just submitted the site an hour ago. Ignore em and move on.

Set up your rules, if the site meets them and your standards but there is something that bothers you about it well it's your link list don't list it

But never list the site for the sake of filling up your list thats when you end up with a list of crap.

Sometimes I'm hoping that they will end up getting rejected at LOR Penisbot etc. and end up here but I don't think half these webmasters even submit to them in the first place.

If you want some practice rejecting links, but don't want people to know it's you, I can give you access to my "non-preferred" queue and let you have at it. I've considered renting out that queue as a stress management aid. I'll change the "decline" button to read "kill" and the decline email to read "you're boring the fuck out of me."

I'm not a scholar but I DO know proper english and I don't want my surfers thinking my LL is a pile of uneducated garbage. If *I* can pick it out my surfers can.

Nothing gets me fired up more then bad grammar.Why?Basically I'm a dumb ass so when I have to tell YOU that your a fuck up it's really bad.I'm easy on webmasters that speak English as a second language but you can always tell when it's just some dumb American trash with piss poor spelling skills.

It also pisses me off when I have to reject a site for something stupid that could have easily been avoided.I just rejected a otherwise good looking site a few minutes ago.A real nice,clean layout too.Then I scroll down to the enter link and it said 'ENTER COCK' for no reason.It had nothing to do with anything! I was just like You soooooooon of a bitch!

On my older LL partially I eliminate this by closing submission form for everyone except registered webmasters and reviewing fs is more smooth from then.

The higher the standards of the site, and the more firm the reviewers are about accepting sites, the more people seem to want to reach that bar. Yes, some of those are the real major players or long-time icons. Look at Danger Dave or JK on the PA side. Look at the feeding frenzy when Tommy announces he has a PA available. Do they relax their standards? Hell no. Even a Tommy PA doesn't guarantee you will have your sites accepted. It is just a ticket to the reviewer.

Persian Kitty, UW and Preacher spring to mind along with LOR and Richard's Realm. I smile for days after getting a site accepted at Persian Kitty because I know they are very picky and don't accept just anything from anyone. UW and Preacher likewise have very tough personal standards and openly won't bother even glancing at most of what they get. Someday, I will build to their standards... and it gives me something to work for.

Be tough -- reject what you don't like and your visitors will reap the benefits.

I have one submitter that has been sending the same site for a couple of months (same layout, new pics each time)... I simply keep rejecting it.

Once I get moved into my new place and have a few of the things I have been working on on my Link List finished, I will be posting a new set of rules that is a lot tougher.

Sick of a lot of the garbage I have been getting.

Star man, your list is older than mine, but with that said, I set my rules up and I have stuck to them. You have to, or else people will abuse them left and right. As it is plenty of faulty submits come in and well I have no mercy for those that continue to try and beat the system. Dont be afraid of rejecting submits. Your site, your loyal submitters and your surfers will be better for it.

Sometimes when I see your recip next to mine on sites I want to reject I think to myself " I wonder if NJ listed this pile of crap.'' hehe.

dont make the mistake of ruining your site because of a few cheaters and dont take the actions of a few out on everyone else

sometimes its shocking how some tgp/link site owners treat their submiters

look at your best sponsor suppose they had some cheaters and put you through a bunch of shit because they were sick of dealing with the cheaters

Thanks for your input Tommy,it's interesting to hear from a porn shark like you!I remember I used to surf your site back in the day and it seemed like everyone was screwing you over after they got listed.It must have been a nightmare keeping up with all those cheaters manually all by yourself especially with those monster sized pages of yours.

Don't make it tough on everyone, but be fair. If a regular submitter screws up, nudge them. If its a new submitter that almost has a clue, nudge them and give them a chance to meet your standards. You can keep the quality up and still have rules applied evenly. We all make mistakes, and you can certainly tell the difference between the occasional oops and the disregard for your rules.

You are always going to have a bunch that have no clue no matter what you do. If you allow that group to populate your link list, the overall quality goes way down. Do you get heavyhanded about it? Sometimes because this group does not always understand, and most of them don't care one little bit that you have rules or standards. They act as if you owe them a spot on your list, no matter what piece of crap they have put together, or how many blind links/ads/malware they have sprinkled all over it.

It all depends on what you want to offer your visitors -- tons and tons of sites, or well-chosen ones that show some quality.
