The Busty Blondes tour looks excellent.
Maybe I need to step it up in my free time and try to learn some of the big dog programs. SmartSaver pro is god sent, as is ThumbsPlus. Is there a program out there than can bulk re-size based on % as opposed to true dimensions? Meaning on Wide Images and High Images in the same folder, could I resize them smaller by lets say 30% in a bulk fashion? I HATE doing one at a dam time. |

Yeah Photoshop/Imageready.
You can make Droplets that you then just drag and drop your images on. I find then much easier to do in ImageReady. In you just do whatever it is you want it to do and then save the history as a Droplet. Like I have a Droplet that will make all images 640 on the long side no matter if that should be the height or width and let the other dimension fall wherever. This way I can batch processes a folder of mixed horizontal and vertical images at once. I never even open and see the images that I use to make galleries, just drag and drop onto different Droplets. |

One of my previous companies purchased Photoshop 3 years ago, in my name (yeah they were stupid).
I have continued to by the upgrades on my own. (otherwise, it's pretty dammed expensive) At best, I am still a complete PS amateur, but I can get some things done with it. I use the best tool I have for the given task. Making thumbs? actually Gallery Maker Pro. (Set thumb size to 125 please) Save the template and it can make thousands of thumbs a minute. Reducing/resizing - Ulead Smart Saver Pro - worth the money for this one. For copying background colors - dotcol Actual free site creation - work in progress - should be ready soon. (still working out quite a few bugs) Still looking for that Easy to Use - "And Under a 100 bucks" - movie screen capture tool that will make thumbnails. (I've been back on dial up all summer - so I'm not in a big hurry LOL)

The problem with movies is, that pretty often the first frame is not suitable as thumb. The frame copy function in Irfanview works, but it's hard to navigate to the frame you want to copy, and you need to batch resize and crop the results. |

Ulead Photo Impact 5 for almost all net graphic work
PhotoShop 5 LE for transparent .gif work and small this & that Irfanview for resizing and watching the pictures (EDIT: it also changes graphics from one mode to another like .gifs to .jpegs and vice versa, .bmp to .jpg/.gif and so on) Easy Thumbnails for making thumbs JPEG optimizer Ulead Gif Animator - it reduces gifs too! SnagIt 5.0 for screen captures That's about it. I have Super JPG as trial but haven't decided if I buy it or not. EDIT: Almost forgot I also have Adobe Premiere 5 for video editing, but haven't used it yet. My wife use it to do home videos. Last edited by finnbear; 2003-08-31 at 05:04 AM.. |

I use Paint Shop Pro 7 for all designs and slicing. Tried Version 8 and didn't like it at all. First time I've been disappointed with a Jasc product.
I started with PSP in the beginning because it was so much cheaper than Photo Shop. I still use it now because it does everything I need it to and takes all Adobe plugins. Glad to see there's a few other PSP supports. Everything in my portfolio was done with PSP. |

Ive tryed most of them and once I learnt how to use photoshop I have never used anything eles those custom actions saves heaps of time and there easy to write I have actions for all my everyday stuff like thumbs to image size. Having said that image ready is a cunt I prefer paint shop for making animation.

Hmm.. imageready works fine on this end.. and Illustrator and Freehand used to be a life saver when that was the only way to create vectorised images, more complex ones than simple shapes.

Rock stars ... is there anything they don't know?
|
I'd say Photoshop is my strongpoint, at least relative to my own computer skills (basket weaving being a the true first overall), but as I delve more into vector I really start to like fireworks, both have things other don't so using one over the other would be folly...plus I do toons I use adobe streamline to convert lineart to vector, then I doodle with it in fireworks...

I use Jasc PaintShop Pro 7. Why? Because I've been using it for many years. Prolly before they had a web site.

Photoshop 7, Ulead Smart Saver Pro and Ulead Gif Animator, and a bit of Corel are the only ones I use, seems that majority go for Photoshop
