Nobody gets into heaven without a glowstick

Anyone know how to keep spammers off my ICQ?
I keep getting messages for me to add these spammers to my contact list on ICQ. It's getting really annoying. Anyone have any solutions, yo?

The key to using ICQ successfully...without it driving ya fucking nuts...is to get it configured correctly. I use ICQ and can't remember the last time I got spammed on it. Wish the hell I could say the same for my mail boxes
I've got mine set up to only accept messages from people on my list. AND set to show me in invisible mode at all times. What that means is that ONLY people I so choose can even see that I'm online I'm using an older version of ICQ so doubt my menus would be the same as whatever version you've got. But, look for privacy settings...get yourself invisible...and only accepting messages from those on your list. It will help a ton |

Also, if you set it up this way...you'll probably have to block the spammers who already have hold of you. When I looked at my setup earlier...noticed that I'd blocked about 100 senders because they had my number before I made the changes. And yes, I was getting spammed to death! It was on advice of another webmaster that I changed to the setup I have now...and it works perfectly. Don't think I've seen a spam in over a year on ICQ |

That sounds like it would work, then. As long as the authorization requests can still get through, yo

Live and learn. And take very careful notes!

i use the invisable(thinking how you write that word) mode at icq, no spammers then because they cant see, (althought i am viseble now)

I'm still having problems with ICQ spam... and it seems to be getting worse
So if I only allow messages to come from users on my contact list, will people still be able to send me message requesting authorization?

...and since we know an end will come it makes our living so much fun

I am always in invisible mode and people must wait for my authorisation... then I just put them on ignore.. spammers won't harrass me too often but there are a few odd creatures out there from "artists" to silly strippers..

Must admit.. I dont have too much spam... just the odd hairy guy trying to chat me up |blowkiss|
Dont know if this helps http://www.icq.com/support/security/...spam.html#stop Otherwise, its just a case of setting Authorisation to always be on |
