Most that do ask though have been very fresh newbies so much of the time it's been more a matter of explaining them the rules of the game.. what to do and what not to do.. From the affiliate point of view i have allways had very sad experiences though when trying to get help/tips from sponsors to sell their sites.. Has allways seemed rather odd to me as it really would be in their interest aswell.. |

Don't rely on sponsors.
There job is to close the sale. The job of affilites is to send quality traffic (buyers). Sponsors seem to be dropping off like fleas on a dog these days. Pick a good reputation sponsor and target (QUALITY) traffic to them. |

Hi Frank!!!!
I agree. Sponsors are not really all that good for generating traffic for you. You need to hit the boards, develop some relationships and learn how to build and get listed consistently. A sponsor rep might be able to tell you how to make free sites and guide you but traffic is different. |

NO! Im not a female - but being a dragon, I do eat them.
|
Sponsors from way back used to do that - they hired people to act as sales reps that had some knowledge in the biz - unfortunately thats not the case anymore - they just hope for the best sales they can get form the WMs.
Used to be I would get emails from sales reps every week at the "good" reputable sponsors asking how they could help - it made me want to push their stuff more - now all we seem to get is lists of hosted free galleries that is pretty much the easiest (read slack/not willing to put any effort into etc) road to take without garnering any respect or even that small feeling of an owner that cares about their affiliates. Fortunately there are still one or two that give their WMs the personal touch and help, and they tend to get most of my traffic and sales |

Well you know boys, a nuclear reactor is a lot like women. You just have to read the manual and press the right button
|
I get quite a few affiliates that ask for help, tips, ideas and such... I'm always glad to help out and give advice or tips from my 7+ years as a webmaster. |cool|
However, I also get guys that have no idea what they are doing and I'm not really into holding someone's hand all the way from complete newbie to fulltime webmaster. |cool|

Yep,
I have a great rep at one company, who will give great tips on their particular niche and how to present it. Getting traffic to your site in the first instance is a different kettle of fish imho, and guys/gals on boards like this who have been around for a while can probably offer more concise info on how to do that. |

With so many sponsors out there, they all want you to promote their programs.
When I asked about free hosting I got many more accounts than I expected. I also felt burnt out about the time I bought 15 domains for those hosting accounts. So, I got what I wanted, but did little with it. Now I feel bad and obligated to put some stuff together for those who helped no questions asked. Not sure why, but I've just really not wanting to look at this computer much last week or so. |

I believe that no one and especially sponsor will give you unique idea how to get quality target traffic. You have to use your creative potential.

Actually - I totally disagree
Sponsors 4 years ago would not only help you with improving your own sites for conversions (in their best interest) BUT - would also give you loads of info of how to build traffic, how to succeed with hubs, SEs, free sites, tgp galleries etc. And they were damn good at it as well, since the reps were all active WMs in this biz and were hired because of that knowledge. Today - MOST everyone starts a sponsor program with very little knowledge of traffic building, SEs, or even the adult biz in general - and they wont spend the upfront capital to get people that know the biz to help their WMs because its easier to pay someone $8 an hour to give "customer support" to WMs and look like they are helping when they dont have a clue what a toplist or SERP is. To me that is what is making my job a whole lot easier, having been through the knowledge level early on, but for these new WMs coming in over the last 3 years or so - in my OPINION - has lead to the cheating, scamming and higher chargeback levels - but then I dont expect most sponsors starting these days to even understand that reasoning. |
