How many of you read your acceptance/rejection notices?

I'm looking for a show of hands.

I realize that many of you submit all over the place and you've grown accustom to receiving the same old boring form letters and trashing them immediately because they are always the same thing. And I know you could give a shit less about what small list owners have to say (I don't necessarily blame you ), but we are the ones who have the time to tell you what you are doing wrong. We tell you when (and often why) you are getting rejected. Take the time to scroll quickly through those emails, even if it's an acceptance. I often warn people that I'm seeing the same template too often or shit like that. Plus, I include pics of my wife pulling a train. OK, I don't do that, but ya never know.

|hello| me, me!

lol - I did at the beginning because I sucked & the rejections told me why so I could fix it

I do now because I send them out myself and it pisses me off to no end when I see someone submitting 5 more sites with the same problem I told them about.

Reading acceptance emails is good because some LLs will put comments in to warn of a potential problem or category change. I fixed a fuck up this way just recently that I would have never known about if I didn't read the acceptance email.

Reading rejection emails is good because I like to know when I fuck up & why

UW - maybe if you put like a prize or something in a random number of acceptances people would look at them more

I always read all of mine. When I do get a decline e-mail I pay attention. I figure if they took the time to tell me whats wrong with, then it's worth fixing to resubmit it!

Hmm UW haven't got one of those pictures yet! Maybe if I offer naked pics of myself in my acceptance e-mails I'll get more submits??

Judging from all the rejection letters I have sent and the same people making the same mistakes keep submitting, I would say 1% actually read a rejection email.

I read them for 2 reasons:

1. I appreciate knowing when I get listed. Beats searching through the link link.
2. I want to improve any site that gets rejected.

Cheers,

I don't think anyone reads them - I've been sending them when I reject sites over at Amateur Nipples & based on the repeat submits with the same problems, I'm almost tempted to just stop sending them.

Just look at that thread I started for Amateur Nipples - one question in the last 2 months & I've rejected A LOT of submits, some of them even had the "please contact the webmaster" reason.

No one reads the rules, no one reads the rejection emails, no one cares

It's rare that I get one, it seems I don't get listed. GG LOR is one, I've not heard anything about my last 2 submits at LOR and their not listed.

http://www.cyberlinkxxx.com/asian_bodyshot/1/
http://www.cyberlinkxxx.com/asian_banana/1/

Part of the problem is I don't know how long I should wait till I ask. UW was behind at F Earls', I didn't know, so on one of my submits I asked what the problem was. He had just recently listed the sites in question, about 10 days after I sub'd them. So no problem.

So how long do you wait so you don't feel stupid?

I don't always read the accept letters, but I do note in subject line who sent them, but I DO always read the rejection letters. I too make stupid ass mistakes, and want to learn what I need to change so I don't have to go through it next time.

Your poll her is going to be skewed, most of us that take the time to post on a board about "link lists and getting listed" are also the same ones that are going to take the time to read those letters.

It is the 100 other guys that MadHatter finally bans because they make the same mistake after writing them over and over that you should be asking, lol.

I always read mine. It really helps when webmasters take out the time to let you know why you are rejected. I dont always correct the mistake on the site rejected but I do keep it in mind for future sites. I think that webmasters taking out the time to tell me why I have been rejected is really helping me better the quality in my work and realy appreciate it.

My script allows users to turn on or off accept/decline notifications. The majority of my submitters have the notifications set to off.

I absolutely always read rejection mails...although I haven't seen one in quite a while...knock on wood

Acceptance mails...unless the subject line lets me know there's something other than 'you're listed' in the mail...nope, don't usually read those.

Then, there are those sites that send out mails with an ambiguous subject line. Most of those are sites I know quite well and that have always listed my stuff. I still tend to spot check those for anything unusual.

Or we read SOME of the rules, and miss others. I saw your rule about FPA's:

and read right over the has to look good in 800x600, just had it set in my head that if it looked good in 1024, it was ok. I'm glad I asked on my one site in another thread, never would have realized that was what was getting me rejected. Sometimes, I feel like an idiot.

I would say that 3-4 days is a fair grace period, but you need to keep in mind that it only applies to a handful of popular lists. Many, many lists only update sporadically. Plus you've got guys like Richard who is famous for a 3 month wait for free sites. And then you can toss in the fact that some lists review based on the needs of the list. They pick and choose what they need to list today (to fill certain categories) by sifting through many days of submissions. It doesn't mean that the sites the reviewer chose to skip today won't get listed. It means they won't get listed today. The assumption that every list clears their queue everyday is majorally false.

It's the not caring that hurts.

I always read the rejection emails and hardly ever read the acceptance. Once I see accepted in the subject I know mission accomplished

I always read carefully the rejections, and scan through the submital thank you and the acceptance.
The reason I scan the submital acceptance as many times there confirmation links on it...one tgp has that at the very bottom of a long long message...lol

Hell the rejection you sent on one site to me showed an error in firefox I fixed right away.
I had a nested table that was forcing my main table too large...IE compensated for it so I missed it, but when you told me the page scrolled sideways I knew you review in fire fox and found in that browser the nested table took priority.I always check in 5 browsers but that site I had tweaked the recip table right before submittal and only rechecked in IE.

I read through all my rejection slips..because I like to find out what stupid error I made today...the only rejection slips I hate are the ones from a few tgps that are just a list of most popular mistakes...which I usually don't make.

I don't send rejection ones anymore (unless its a simple mistake from someone I know), definitely never for not reading rules. I got sick of seeing the mistakes over and over and getting abused. Every now and then I switch it the wrong way and send them by accident.

I only got rejections from one site...that eventually banned me. Tons of different reasons by this one reviewer

I don't send anything from my sites. If they want to know I have a link to this board/forum or they can email me

I read rejection letters to see what I did wrong.

I do not like these letters. They make me feel bad.

I always read rejection mails - I like to know what I screwed up today, if only so I can screw up something different tomorrow

Seriously, feedback on what I'm doing wrong is always very much appreciated. Acceptance mails I just glance at - I've never yet seen one say anything significant other than "you're accepted".

The points about length of backlogs are well made, though. I've not had time to build or submit any sites in a few weeks due to some family commitments, but I'm still getting a fairly steady stream of acceptance mails for sites I submitted four months ago. Of course, I'm happy to be approved there at all, but if I'd been building sites all this time instead of doing family stuff I would have built a fair few sites by now that I simply wouldn't have submitted to those lists because I figured they were either dead or didn't like the sites I made.

With that in mind, I think it's always good for a list to send out acceptance / rejection mails. Sure, some folks might ignore them, but for the rest of us its a helpful indication of what's working and what isn't.

Rob.

I send them out sometimes.
Regular submitter who just screws up code or something.
I like the content or the design of the site but has a rule problem.

If I send out more then two or three rejections for the same issues I delete their account. These days I'm more keeping a good list rather than a ban list since I'm by account only. It's unbelievable what I get each week as samples asking for an account.

Im real easy - I always send out "received your link request" emails - just to let the submitter know that the submit worked. I never send out rejections unless its something that the submitter could fix easily, obviously just missed something, but never, never, never do I send out rejections for people that dont read the rules first - I did for a long time, and after 80% bounced, and the others never replyed or just kept submitting the same shit - I stopped. Now I just hit the ban button whenever I see that the submitter didnt read the rules - to the tune of at least 50-80 submitters a day.
