I didnt go, and from the looks of the pics from JFK and others, not many did go.

The floor pics are damn near empty and you see the same people over and over on the floor.

So far I know 1 person who went that said this show was "great" and everyone else said it was a waste of time and $.

So is it safe to say that the Florida convention is the one to go to?

I'm sure I would have had a good time in Vegas if I was there more than 24 hours. And I know I'll be in Miami having fun this August.

These conventions, like life, are what you make of them. Jim doesn't have fun at them because he goes into them with the mindset that it's not going to be fun.

I have fun because I enjoy the convention, the parties & especially seeing everyone form the board & the people I talk to on a daily basis.

Both shows are very good but are also somewhat different.

Both you get to meet wonderful people, do some networking, conduct some business, meet the sponsors, and all the other things that go along with this business.

Vegas is a bigger show and very spread out over multiple places. If you love a party town with gambling, shows, and non stop action this is the show to go to.It is very spread out so it is a bit difficult to find people. I personally don't like this show as much but that is just me.

Hollywood is smaller and all in one very large very nice hotel. It's fucking hot here in August but the whole show except for the pool parties is indoors in the hotel. It has this huge lobby with huge fake palm trees in it all under glass and I often find myself hanging out here seated at a table just watching people going by. It is a good place to be if you are trying to hookup with people and you don't know where to find them.

At both shows you should try to find the off the showroom stuff like the private parties and hospitality suites as this is really where the good stuff is.

I'm a non smoker with very little tolerance for cigarette smoke and the Hollywood show is mostly non smoking so for me this is the deciding factor to which I'll keep on going to. It also helps that I live about 8 miles from this show. lol

The Vegas show was different this year.

First, Mandalay Bay is an awesome place to host the event. The convention center is absolutely HUGE, there could have been 15 more shows at the same time without running out of space!

Due to the higher prices, I did notice that fewer webmasters attended. By webmasters, I mean affiliate webmasters that push traffic to sponsors. Of course, all of the sponsors where there along with some brand new ones.

I think that newbies and midrange players are discouraged from the cost of the show. At the Vegas show you must pay extra for the seminars. So those that make the least have to pay the most to attend the show?!?

I really think charging for the seminars is bad policy. The seminars are really infomercials for the speakers. So newbies are paying for a generic sales pitch.

All of the fun is at the private parties. They are smaller, wilder, and you can actually get some biz done! The large parties are always overcrowded and loud!

Here are some pics:

This year was my first time in Vegas. I was somewhat disappointed. I found the floor to be somewhat empty and the only place that I could find anyone was the "round bar".

Now, if you were a newbie, it was difficult to figure out who was industry or CES..I know alot of ppl but I almost felt bad for anyone who maybe came to Vegas alone and did not know anyone. I wanted to meet new ppl as well and I found myself getting picked up by CES attendees instead of meeting industry ppl.

Having a central and private meeting area would have made much more sense.

With that said, I enjoyed the show and made the best of what I could and came home w/ great memories and contacts both old and new!

Phoenix show is much more intimate and organized.
