I guess the moral of the story is be careful what info you put in when you sign up to promote a program |

lol Perhaps he should go by Captain Oblivious. 32 minutes of harassment per affiliate, and managed to call you an asshole in the process...I dont see this becoming a long term career for him!

From : Captain Obvious you list something, you're sending us traffic already - I figured you posted a few of the hosted galleries I would take the take that traffic away and see how quick people give you a call with a sorry. Never understood how people can bite the hand that feeds them. |

A quick look at my referrals would probably show 90% of them coming from the category listings on LOR. I once was considering surfing a lot of the link list owners sites that post here, and hitting them up via email or ICQ (if I had it) to see if they wanted any suggestions to convert us. Or just to say hi and let them know my contact info. if they had ads for us up.
But then I remembered also seeing a thread where someone was upset that an affiliate rep emailed them after checking out their list. Most everyone replying in the thread was pretty much saying it was spam. So I scrapped that idea pretty quick. |badidea|

PR_Tom, I think that if you want to contact an individual webmaster, you need to come to the table with some info, some understanding, and some really good material that will make a difference.
Personal mail should be personal - no stock format, no cut and paste... make the link list owner think you actually checked out their site and made some notes or have some information. Just firing off a form letter is the fastest way to make people feel like nothing. Now, you might also want to consider looking at your accounts and trying to group them together... link site owners here, TGP owners there, other programs sending exit hits or whatever over there... then you can segment market at least a bit Alex |

I guess I was just kind of trying to say that I can see the desire to go ahead and contact people when you're pumped up about something, but also the need to know the audience a little bit more before hand.
I prefer to be more passive anyway to be honest. I'm around at least 9 to 5 and post on several boards etc. so easy enough access. It's going to be hard to resists ICQ'g GG the next time we release some FHG's now though! hehe

You guys ever known somebody who owns more than one site?
I know its hard to believe but some people do have a few sites other than the one in their account. I was trying to cover all my bases with Green Guy and I got him everything he needed. Metal Cash didn't send out the generic email because the 123 Program isn't officially launched yet, I'm specifically hitting webmasters that are already part of the program and sending traffic to get first shot at these sites. Green Guy was rude to me for no reason, so I was rude to him. Edit for typo Last edited by CaptainObvious; 2006-03-30 at 01:27 PM.. |

Dude, you're off to a fine start in your new career -lol
There are at least a dozen program owners here who will never, ever consider you in the future to represent their companies. Note to Metal Cash: This is what happens when you recruit from the zoo. |

If GreenGuy would have taken a second and been calm and read then he would have obviously seen that Captain said that this program is not released yet and he was hitting up webmasters before the program launched to give them a change to push this program first... for all of you guys that don't understand. That means no affiliate email yet.
If any of you took the time to visit the link that Captain sent him, you would see that it's a list of sites like he has listed currently. After he said "no thanks" to the galleries he offered him paysite links. Please read and look before you post people. Sheesh, this is turning into GFY. |

Its like approaching a christian fundamentalist about getting an abortion for his daughter or a pamela anderson abou buying cheap steak (she's a vegetarian). we're siding with greenguy because he's synonamous with anti-gallery and pro free site. if you'd read his board or looked at his major sites or even talked to him first, instead of trying to shove galleries he doesnt want down his throat, you'd ave seen what is an 'obvious" mistake. |

If you would read into it I said if he doesn't like galleries I have actual links for him - I didn't force greenguy to look at galleries, I didn't tell him I have nothing for you but galleries, I asked if he wanted galleries, he said no so I gave him links. It seems quite 'obvious' that I didn't do anything offensive to him before he said I was as annoying as a fucking telemarketer. It's 'obvious' that everybody here is going to continue to side with greenguy because its 'obviously' his board. Rediculous guys.

post 21 was posted as I was typing out my response, josh, so please calm down. irregardless, read the conversation from back to front. having some background in the telemarketing industry (i know a guy who did it for a living) its obvious what was going on here Caller: want to buy _____? greenguy: nope caller: standard rebuttal greenguy: no thanks caller: second rebuttal. and so forth. its annoying, bad, telemarketing bullshit. and if the rep was informed at all he'd known that starting off talking about galleries is fucking stupid and makes him look like an ass. and the worst of it is that the rep becomes beligerant after the third rebuttal. calls greenguy an asshole. its pathetic and stupid and its not a great way to run a company. the only thing that was "GFY" was the messages being shot towards greenguy: Quote:
