Heads Up About ModX Program
This is just a heads up about the program modfxnetwork.com that runs a few model sites using ccbill. They do NOT pay on rebills, only on initial sale. So if you're pushing Hanna Hilton, Jaime Hammer or any of their other model sites you are being ripped off. Not only are you not being paid on rebills but they do not pay on zip photo sets they sell on the site too.
And they don't care about it. Here's an ICQ log from a friend of mine: "friend": i send u a sale.. and it rebills.. i dont get credit on it modFX Info: correct... "friend": thats insane how the hell is that fair modFX Info: then don't promote us "friend": i wish i had paid close attention in the first place modFX Info: find someone that will do 50/50 then |

You know Ramster, that does suck. But, I have never been a big fan of not reading at least the sign up page. The first sentence of the webmaster sign up page says..."Sign up to my Affiliate Program today and make 50% on all initial signups!"
I know that it is so unusual for something like that people may not even notice. But, you can't say they didn't warn you. As for the icq...that is just poor business skills. |

I agree that the "support" could be a whole lot better. And only paying 50% on initial signups seems kind of silly to me.

I agree, read the page. I did not signup myself. But as a webmaster you see these pages all the time and once you see 50/50 the rest is kind of blurred to most of us since we see it all the time. And sometimes things just do not register as you "skim" over the text. This is why I am posing so people are aware.

Don't get discouraged; it's usually the last key that opens the lock...
|
I'm guilty of this myself, I have signed up to many different programs without reading the signup page details. Guess I should start...

I deal with alot of independent amateur sites. I love them dearly, but many aren't all that computer savvy. So after being burned more than once on zero rebills, I'm now in the habit of logging in to the CCBill admin and checking the site settings in the Tools section before I even go fetch any FHG links. You'd be surprised how many say on their webmaster signup page that they pay on all rebills but the CCBill settings say zero instead of unlimited.

Someone has to cover the costs of checking out all the fake webmasters with no adult sites, and those who are trying to sign up for multiple accounts, or using fake ID information, and all the other tricks that scammers try to pull. Plus there's the management of all those who signup but never send any traffic. So I wouldn't be surprised if we start seeing more invitation-only and 'fee-to-join' affiliate programs (unless you're reasonably well-known with a good bit of traffic of course). Actually, I wouldn't mind paying to join a program if that actually guaranteed some things, like more transparent stats, higher payouts with no processing fees, allowed email campaigns, longer cookies, and more important, potentially a lot less competition promoting the program and its sites. Not that we're thinking of going that route, but I wouldn't be surprised to see some other programs doing that one day.

If a sponsor can find a way of fucking you then they will in one way or another.
It doesn't cost them anything to check traffic sources but they don't give a fuck because at the end of the day it's $$ that count. The adult insutry is the most self destructive business going because sooner or later it will be a case of enough is enough due to the excessive spam and scams. Evidence of which is the ever declining ratios. |

I have a couple of fetish wear paysites in the very early planning stages. One thing that is already settled is that the affiliate program portion will be strictly by invite only.

Damn - 50% of initial sale and 0% for recurring? Not even worth the time to put a link up. Though I have seen worse recently. Yes, even worse. I like to think that some owners just don't know how to properly set up their program in the CCBill admin, but in ModX's case, they are obviously just cocksuckers (allegedly).

I look at the huge payout promotions and think, i wonder who that will attract and most of all who is most likely to win them. Domains on free content and think, what if someone downloads a pic or video and a day or so later decides they want to see more so types the url in. I see lots of sponsors making huge amounts of money etc and webmasters barely making minimum wage. Surely it pays to be cynical? |

NO! Im not a female - but being a dragon, I do eat them.
|
You'd be amazed at how many programs have their ccbill setup for zero rebills - and as for checking smaller sites - I know of one that pays 10% on initial signups and 0 rebills

Our current CCBill settings
Base Percent Payout: 60.00 The Base Percent is a fraction of the sales amount generated through affiliate referrals; the percentage is paid to the referring affiliate. To offer a combination of percentage and dollar amount per sale, enter values in the Base Percentage Payout and the Base Dollar Amount fields. Enter percentages as 25, not 0.25. Recurring Payment: Yes Select Yes to offer a portion of the recurring sales to your affiliates. If No is selected, affiliates will only receive payment from the initial sale. You can reward Affiliates percentages for sending new sign ups to the Affiliate Program. This reward comes in the form of a percentage of each Affiliate's net. The amount paid to the Affiliate comes from the subaccount website's gross earnings. This gives existing Affiliates incentives, allowing the CCBill client to receive more revenue. The system tracks the payouts accordingly. This option is disabled by default. Enter Percentage 5.00 % Enter a percent in the Enter Percentage field that is located in the Affiliate Bonus Program screen. Click Submit to update CCBill's system. |

Sorry papagmp, i wasn't questioning your honesty or anything and i'm sure people can vouch for other sponsors.
Like the AFF thread, there are a few sponsors that are not as honest. |

Oh hell - I wasn't offended at all.
I feel the best path is the open and honest path. If there is a potential question on my program, I feel it's best to get it answered. This thread reminded me to check my CCBill data and make sure I hadn't missed anything. I'm still learning so any help I can get is appreciated. |

Must be nice to have enough affiliates to say " find someone that will do 50/50 then"

I don't see how these places stay in business. I can see where Ramster is coming from, I'd see the 50/50 and probably not think about the rest. It's pretty standard for most recurring programs, so most people don't stop to think about it. Guessing they worded it as such on purpose? Last edited by ronnie; 2007-12-08 at 05:37 PM.. |

WHO IS FONZY!?! Don't they teach you anything at school?

If it's who I'm thinking, I agree with Ramster. Put that Linkster charm to work! Even I won't work for 10%
