How would you populate a top 100 list

I have auto rank pro setup on my escort site
Do any of you have an easy way of filling my list up?

Pat,

It's a hard thing to get started these days.... but the best idea would be to email a few similar/other sites and get them to link to you.

Toplists aren't what they used to be

Pat,

A few years ago I wanted to get more people submitting to my autorankpro toplist so I setup my linksite submit page so every site submitted automatically created a toplist account for their site as well.. then I sent the code to each webmaster in the approval emails and said "link this for extra traffic".

I did that for about a year or 18 months, in about 2000/2001 I think, it doesnt take any clicks to be listed so I regularly deleted any sites that didnt send a click in 90 days to try and only keep sites that actually had linked back listed.

A couple of people starting trying to cheat it and I found too many people started using the toplist code instead of the proper recip link so I closed it to any new sites in about 02 or 03.... but it still generates about 1000 clicks day and has almost 2000 active sites in the db with at least 100 sending more than 1 hit in any 24 hours period.. I havent deleted any sites in ages so there is likely some that are no longer up.. but there would have to be 1500 good ones at least.

For mine.. thats a fairly succesful sounding toplist.. and an "easier" way to get people using it..... but the fact is it wouldn't be there if it did require work now.. as I dont see the value of the traffic offsets the issues caused by cheats and the non-se friendly nature of the linking codes in many cases.

I am actually re-working it totally right now and have been pondering the best way to keep using it for weeks. Here's 2 issues you may not have thought of and should take into account imho.

- Call it a toplist and expect people to try and cheat it! Try and present it in a "non-toplist" style to webmasters to minimize this.

- If you are going to issue people with special linking codes ask someone using the Norton adblocker to check if the linkcodes work... enough people have this stupid utility enabled by default to make it a significant problem now. (Norton removes all text links in a page with my version of autorank pro link codes)

Good luck with it!

Thanx for the post Opti gave me a bunch to absorb
First thing I need to do is stop calling it a top list
I went with the list because I thought that linking to other escort sites would help me get better search engine placement.
Is my thinking wrong? Could you explain to me what you meant by "the non-se friendly nature of the linking codes in many cases"

I would really appreciate it if someone with Norton adblocker would check to see if my link codes work.

I'll take a stab at what he may have meant by that. Most search engines cannot navigate past the symbols used in the linking codes. Symbols such as '?' and '='. Sites with dynamic content have always suffered from this since search engines can't find the dynamic pages in order to index them. Google can handle most of it now, so I assume a couple of other large SEs can as well. The scripted toplist became somewhat of a paradox. They were built to help SE ranking, but the SEs couldn't fathom them. Hardcoded toplists will always be more efficient for the spiders, but they are a whole hell of a lot more work.

What Useless Warrior said.. well partly.. but thats the basic problem.

Im not sure i explained myself properly about the he norton adblocker problem... Unfortunately it picks up "rankem.cgi" in the URL linking back to your site from your trades... and removes the link and its text anchor from their page..

basically I guess I am saying.. as cool as autorankpro is.. dont use it with the standard linking codes it gives other sites to use when linking to you.

It's not a big issue to resolve if you are handy with code.. but if you are not, you should take the Norton adblocker problem into consideration and decide if its worth sticking with autorankpro (or any other toplist code blocked by Norton) ... it's hard to know exactly how many people have it enabled I guess.. but I am starting to think it's gettign significant enough to be noticable.

URB has it installed... maybe he could post a screenshot of a page... or explain a bit more about it.. he was researching ways webmasters might detect adblocker users recently.

Escort Toplists are actually easier to get going than most Adult Toplists Here's a few tips for you to get going....

Setup accounts for Escort Link Lists...
For instance, go to http://www.internationalescorts.biz and submit the site, use the toplist code which you have generated when creating an account on your toplist for International Escorts.
(just don't hot link to their banners, save them to your own server!)

Do the same with other Escort Toplists...

You can also setup accounts for Escort sites and send them an email with their new account, let them know that as soon as they pop that link up, they will get a better ranking...

Do the work for the site owners and you'll be fine... You may only get 25% of the sites you create accounts for list you on their links pages, but you probably wouldn't have got them any other way...

Another option is... Be nice to another Escort Toplist owner and see if you can trade links on the submit page or even ask them to email their current list of Escort Webmasters (you can give me a shout on this one if you like - I have a few Escort Toplists of my own... adultmatch@bigpond.com)

Good luck!

Mandy

Hi Tijuana Pat! I run a bunch of toplists all different niches. You may want to email other toplist owners also if you want to use the toplist codes trading method as MandyD suggested. It`s a rule I state in mine. Sorry I can`t say I have any escort toplists though! But i will add that I run my public toplists like a link list of sorts with ranking. They contain alot of free sites hub type sites and some trades with friends etc. It`s taken a while but the traffic does build if you work to keep driving some there and for me I keep the traffic quality pretty good so they make a few bucks too. They are just another good traffic tool in the webmaster tool belt!
